Hello All.
I have been stalking (mostly Red Deer, in Scotland) for about 45 years, but I am no expert. I shot my first stag on Ben More Assynt when I was still a teenager in the 1970s: I used an old Lee-Enfield 303 with iron sights (I couldn't afford a telescopic sight back then). I doubt it would be tolerated these days.
Now I have a modern Tikka in .270 (a very forgiving round, I find) with a decent 'scope.
I am a member of a rifle club near Oldham: they have an excellent outdoor range for practice with my .270 and my .303, but it's ninety minutes away from where I live, so a trip to the range ends up taking the best part of a day. I've more recently joined a club which is only ten minutes away. This club has an indoor range where I can shoot my Westlake Alfa and my .22 but not my bigger rifles.
I found you because I'm trying to work out a safe method for making .312 lead bullets and firing them from standard brass cartridges at low velocity, so that I can plink indoors with my old Lee-Enfield. I hope that you will be kind enough to admit me so that I can learn what I need to do. I can see that this is a topic which has cropped up in the recent past.
