New version RCBS beam scales

Looking for some opinions, if any body has used/are using the newer RCBS m500 or m1000 scales. Are they any good or best just avoided completely. If avoided what are the other options?

The curiosity comes from reading many post saying 505's are the 'bees knees' but finding the scales is not as easy as that. I try and keep an eye out for them in classifieds but I seem to be a little behind with being in classifieds at the right time. This is a start to the reloading world and am trying the buy once cry once approach, how that pans out time will tell.

Had a set of 502's and they were terrible, the markings were on a sticker which didn't align with the actual weight.

The higher the weight the bigger the difference.

Sent them back to RCBS in the end and got a replacement which was OK but I got rid and got a coupe of sets of the 505's, much better!.

Are the 505s engraved onto the beam instead of a sticker?

I have 505 scales & used them constantly for around 40 years now. Perfect for my needs & not a sign of any issues or problems.
I check/calibrate them from time to time, but never need to adjust them.
Same here, 40+ years.
The only problem that I have had was the handle on the pan snapped off about five years ago. RCBS very kindly sent me a replacement. Their warranty is legendary and makes it well worth paying the extra to buy their kit.

OHAUS, RCBS 10-10 are the best in my experience followed by OHAUS 10-0-5 and Lyman M5. I've just converted for myself OHAUS pract-0-gram to grains and it's absolutely the best. You don't have to bend your neck and back to be able to read it and paralax greatly reduced

Just had a Google and only brought up Cent-0-gram scales are they similar or not?

Last year I converted to using electronic scales and found it speeds reloading up quite a bit when weighing individual charges as I do.
Ken.
Ps. Paid around £200 for RCBS.

I have the Ohaus 5-0-5 and they're very good. You can find on Ebay occasionally, the RCBS 5-0-5 made by Ohaus.

Failing this, I have a brand new, unused Lee beam scale boxed, £20 posted and a used Lyman 500 pro £25 posted, if you're interested.

Other than that, keep an eye on Ebay and on here for when the 5-0-5 comes up 👍
