night vision scope recommendations

Hi nun_hunter,
Fitted my 0 moa mount and bore sighted it yesterday.
Twas a couple inches out on targets today but soon set it to my preferred 1/4" low @ 50 yds.
X & Y now 4 & 47.

With the 35 moa mount on and a near similar poi X was 25 & Y was 163.
My ret. is nearer the center now.
Cheers, Ken.
Thanks Ken,

I'll drop mine by about 120 and bore sight and see where I am then. Hopefully that'll get me close enough to get out on paper and sort it properly.

Par for the course with the LRF.
The LRF does not work at ranges less than 10 yards/metres and even at ranges of more than 10 yards/metres glass will reflect as well as transmit light from the laser both out to the target and back again, reducing the amount reaching the receiver below the minimum level needed for the electronics to calculate a range
The centre of the screen is x=0 and y=0
Anything above centre is positive, anything below centre is negative
Anything to the right of centre is positive, anything to the left of centre is negative

Cheers

Bruce

This is my screen now.
X4 and Y47.
Ret. deff. below centre but no minus signs showing in Reticle setup.
Should there be?
Cheers, Ken.
Ps. Bigger picture file too big to load.

The minus sign is difficult to see because it is very close to, and on the same line as the lower line of the equal sign
Unless you have a weird version of the firmware, if the reticle is below the centre of the screen, the Y value will be negative

Cheers

Bruce

This was my reticle position prior to fitting the 0moa mount. Hopefully when I come to zero it I won't need any shims to bring it central or below the centre but I think I'll bring some along to the zero session just to be prepared.

I did find that shooting right-handed and having the LRF on the left it made reaching across to focus a bit of a fiddle. I found a 3d printed focus extender for under a tenner which has made adjusting the focus much easier and quicker

Hi guys,I also had my arken properly zeroed today at the range. Mounted last weekend and done rough zero with 2 shots from sticks. Used two shims and my values with 35moa mount are X-56 and Y11. The bad part is I think I've got a lemon. On 20 shots fired twice the screen goes orange at the time of shot and need to restart it to get back to normal, and three times goes black and take time to self restart. The other issue is WiFi it's next to impossible to get it work. Managed to get it work twice after at least 20-30 minutes play. WiFi is on , phone has it discovered and says connected but there is no connection. Had seen somewhere that models with LRF can use Bluetooth connection for everything like device update and video download but it's certainly not the case with my unit.
Does anyone else had similar problems? Just asking in case there' is simple fix before send it back

Hi Bruce,
I‘ve been Into ‘Zeroing Reticle’ again and when the numbers go below 0 the minus sign appears.
I don’t understand why the reticle is below centre on screen but showing as a positive number.
Don‘t ‘spose it matters anyway.
Cheers, Ken.

What kind of18650 batteries were you using?
The problems you describe sounds very much like a poor battery connection
Models with the LRF only use bluetooth for ballistic calculation communications, the wifi is needed for firmware updates
When a phone is correctly connected to the scope by wifi, the phone will usually display a message saying "connected to device, can't provide internet"

Cheers

nun_hunter,
Please let us know where your reticle ends up in relation to screen centre and also, if it’s below centre do the x & y axis show with a minus sign.
Tia; Ken.

Hi Bruce, the battery is Sony 3000mah flat top. And yes my phone shows that message and when tapp for settings it clearly says connected but scope not communicating with the app.
Thanks again

@kenbro I've only just come back online after setting it up and using it with the new 0moa mount. I've not got it to hand but the reticle looks like it is pretty much dead centre (I'll get the scores at some point). I went out foxing last week with it and had my first go at video editing last night. I'm impressed with the onboard IR and the picture clarity at longer ranges. Everything was filmed at 5X and I used the PIP for taking the shot.

It was windy but didn't feel that bad while out but the wind noise is pretty bad, maybe a small bit of foam or something could sort it out.

I personally never trusted a 50m/yard zero but each to their own

Good vid mate - surprised YouTube letting it stay in colour showing blood, they usually not happy with that... 🙄

Just to clarify, after you range find, the cross hairs themselves shift to alter rather than adding an aim point on crosshairs like the pard does?

I find a 50 yards zero back on its second crossover between 150 and 170 yards.
So 50 yds a good zero for my stalking.
More often set it 3/8" low at 50 to be bang on at 165 yards. And still on target to 230 ish.
Ken.

Hmm.
At 50m my 6.5x55SE is 1cm low for 100 and spot on the centre for 200m so can easily be checked at the club 50m range.

😱 I thought you would be high at 100 yards.
Cheers,Ken.
Aye you and me both but that is what I have found with 130gns Sierra Gamechangers. I shot 3 Roe a few weeks ago at just either side of 200 and they were spot on. I suppose a centimetre or so difference in POI at 100 makes no difference anyways….

You can choose to either have a secondary dot appear at the new aim point or it to move your main crosshair.

It doesn't show it in the video but while you're ranging the various distances appear and change as you move the LRF but once you press it again it shows the fixed new range your crosshair has moved to. This distance then stays displayed at the top of the screen.

Depends. In the menu you can choose between 'Hold Over' where a new cross appears superimposed on the reticle for the POA. Or 'Dial in" which moves the whole reticle like an optical scope.
