Just took my time in the silent wood. A couple of steps at a time. Two hours of that then this young chap came towards me until in a gap in the trees and he stopped looking at me about 40yds away. As he stopped the Winchester came up, leveled on his head and wallop, down he was.
Good ol' 3030.
A cracking job & nothing beats the reward of getting close in to fallow like that - gets even more exciting when you’re stalking the buggers in cover & can get down to single digit distances, that gets the old heart pounding I can tell you!
Had my 11 yr old with me.
Had a couple of shots I’d normally have gone with. Nothing like your son whispering “come on dad” to put the pressure on. I did get the shakes.
But I could see how black they all were underneath and thought better of it. And it was creeping closer to bed time, dragging 60kg would have put me into bollocking territory!
Another great day out with that denizen of the bush...the 30/30.

Being able to do that means you will make a very effective sambar hunter in the High Country of Victoria in Ozland. I hope new stalkers on TSD who are just starting out take note of and learn from your example.
