The lens cap can be removed...I've had one for a few weeks now, after previousely using a pulsar XQ38F for several years. I'm very pleased with it, I use it almost exclusively for foxing. It's got a decent field of view, is small and neat and has very good image quality. My only (minor) gripe is the push - on lens cap, I'd prefer a hinged cap.

I've removed mine, just store in in the pouch when not in use.Removing it isn't a good idea IMHO, it could easily lead to a scratched/damaged lens, and it would be easily lost.
A hinged type cover can be both opened and closed one handed. The push on needs both hands to close.
