Norfolk - Deer 'Rescuers'

The Facebook algorithms have been working over time this week just because I dared to dwell on a guy that was rescuing a Munty, I'm now served with all manner of deer 'rescuing' that occurs in the county of Norfolk!

Its pretty much same old same old and what we've all read before but in one of the comments (fellow deer rescuer it appears) I always raise an eyebrow when I read " those that won't make it I put to sleep as I'm authorised by the Ministry' ...........In accordance with a code of practice and legislation let's hope, I'm sure it's all OK😊

I'm aware the Norfolk Police led HAD scheme was disbanded sometime ago and I'm aware there were some disgruntled ex members of that scheme who no doubt gave their heart n soul in giving up their time responding only for it to be canned, but if a country needs a scheme resurrecting quickly I would say it's Norfolk!

(I'm aware of the new'ish BDS/DMQ/HAD course)

I’m a firm believer of letting the police get on with it!

I was a deer warden as it was known for 10 years, you get more calls between 10 pm and 3 am than during the day!

As soon as the clocks change comes the calls start, 3-4 times a week sometimes
, almost a dead guarantee it’s a CWD that’s been bowled over by a car, the police aren’t there and you are spent half an hour or more going up and down the road trying to find the animal only to find out that is crawled off the road onto somebody else’s land.

No thank you’s, No well done bugger all

Yep it’s glorious being a deer warden NOT!

I didn't want to reference you by handle!! I get what you are saying but I'm sure (as always) new brooms are willing to have a go

'Put them to sleep'. With what... PTS generally refers to lethal injection and only vets should be doing that. We had some kerfuffle with the RSPCA letting lay people use the stuff a few years back, it should not be happening.
