Norma-nosler brass

I use both as well as Lapua . Norma in the 6.5x54 MS , Nosler in of all things the 26 Nosler and Lapua in the 222 an 260 REM .

I’m sure the Norma Bess needs the flash holes reaming/de burring. I’ve just had some and had a Quick Look and need to double check. It’s also usually expensive if not more than Lapua. I’ve had great results with privi in my .223 which is half the price of Lapua. I don’t cry when it drops in the grass out hunting.

And to add Norma and Nosler is quite often the same factory.

Using Norma in 6.5 prc , came well packaged and is holding up well , couldn't get Lapau at the time .

I have used Nosler Custom. Norma and Lapua for various calibres, the additional weight of these 3 in comparison to any other is various grains heavier than a like for like. Flash holes in Lapua and Nosler Custom are close to perfection compared to a few and very few not so perfect Norma.
17 Remington brass supply is all but zero with Nosler Custom being the only one available, but i dont have any reserves paying the price if i needed any.
My opinion, no issues with either Nosler or Norma.

Here’s a link to an old thread I started re Nosler brass. I ended up returning it and switching to Norma which is spot on.

My last lot of .204 Nosler brass was just awful. 10% defects mainly split necks and weld like splatter inside the neck.
I have some new Cutom brass which looks alot better but by sheer luck got some Norma. I was lead to believe that Norma made Nosler brass.

When I first started loading rifle cartridges forty plus years ago I was told to get Winchester brass anytime possible use Remington second etc . Then maybe 15 years ago I was introduced to Lapua brass . That literally opened a whole new world to me ! The uniformity of primer pockets and very little if any run out on the necks . And so it goes I still use Winchester brass and Remington brass . The only time I see an actual NEED for shall we say precision brass is if I have a HB gun of some type that’ll only be shot from the bench . I used to spend quite a lot of time shooting groups from the bench at 100 and 200 yards not in competition just for my own enjoyment .

Until around 10 years ago, Nosler bought in all the cases it sold bearing the 'Nosler' headstamp. Norma supplied most (all?), and it was generally very good quality indeed. (As it should have been given the asking price for this company's 'Custom Brass'.) Then Nosler bought the Silver State Armory outfit, a small manufacturer whose reputation was good for brass such as the 6.8mm Rem SPC which was 'very in' at the time. IIRC, SSA specialised in smaller cases for US AR-15 shooters.

This gave Nosler an in-house case manufacturing facility and it switched the 'Nosler Custom' brand to its own cases wherever possible, only contracting out to Norma or whoever for those types with limited demand.

My impression from forum comments etc is that quality and customer satisfaction for the in-house cases went downhill subsequently, especially as Nosler seems to still regard its products as premium grade and prices them accordingly.
