FiL passed away recently & we’re just starting to go through his flat. Opened a drawer in an old dresser, having already found a bottle of Wood’s Navy & a bottle of Haig Dimple in there, & found these.
started me to smoke all those years ago, 1964 HMS Raliegh, IIRC cost were 1 shilling and 9 pence per 100 but could only buy 300 a month when shore based

Dad smoked roll up's and used to send me into Chelmsford to pick up his "Black Shag" 1976!
It was in a large wax coated bag 1lb.
Later in life he swapped to Old Hoben so when he passed I had the undertaker put in an pkt of OH and blue rizlas in his coffin.
They were still available when I was at Raleigh October 1990.I was a smoker back then & the novelty of a cheap smoke was soon realised once you lit one up.
Think they were phased out around 1992 due to branded cigarettes being available onboard for £8 per slip of 200.
I stopped smoking in 1995,glad I did as smokers now must need a bank loan to buy 20 tabs.
