Notice from Lapua regarding limited product availability

Just got this come through

Due to the continued high product demand and the prevailing market conditions impacted especially by the Ukraine situation, the availability of some of our products is unfortunately limited and delivery times have become extended. To better serve our civilian and military obligations, some of our components will be temporarily suspended from production. This is due to prioritizing production lines.

So what does this mean for you as a consumer?

It means that some Lapua products will probably be out of stock in many places in the world for some time to come. This doesn’t mean that we are cancelling any products. It is our intention to resume production of these products as soon as market conditions stabilize.

We’re also taking necessary steps at our production sites to improve production capabilities with e.g. new production lines installed during 2023 and 2024.

We work as hard as we can every day on all of our sites to produce high-quality ammo and components for you and aim to serve you at normal levels as soon as possible.

Temporarily suspended cases:

4PH5002 - .222 Remington Match Brass
4PH5001 - .22-250 Remington Brass
4PH6022 - 6 mm Creedmoor Brass
4PH6010 - 6,5 x 47 Lapua Brass
4PH6020 - 6,5 mm Grendel Brass
4PH6030 - 6,5 x 284 Brass
4PH6050 - .260 Remington Brass
4PH7095 - 7 mm - 08 Remington Brass
4PH7105 - 7 x 64 Brass
4PH7107 - 7 x 65R Brass
4PH7284 - .284 Winchester Brass
4PH7226 - .308 Win Palma Brass (Small Primer)
4PH7215 - 7,62 x 53R Brass
4PH8030 - 8 x 57 IS Brass
4PH8031 - 8 x 57 IRS Brass

I suppose that shows the list of least profitable/popular cartridges that they can afford or justify not producing.

Hmmm. War is always a good time for bullet manufacturers and the arms trade and logically hunters are very much at the back of the queue when it comes to supplying hunting bullets, powder, brass and primers. We have seen this with Afghanistan, Kuwait, Iraq and probably Vietnam! Sooo the longer Ukraine goes on the worse it will become - anyone who has not become a “mini-prepper” will inevitably encounter real problems in availability, cost or both.
As a slight aside I would be very interested to know the size of orders that are being placed in 5.6, 7.62x39 and 7.62x51 ball ammunition - they must be enormous!

This isnt the kind of time where you'd want to be reliant on just in time stock control! And it wont be only those involved stocking up, but all the neighbours too.

Funny old world really. Few years ago I was at a massive gunshow in Pennsylvania - biggest selling item was a plastic screwtop barrel - to fill with ammo and bury in your yard. Plus ca change....

I could imagine that. My perception of the USA (no offence meant) is the more religeous the area, the more guns and ammo they have!

In reality though in any city in the world, even so called civilised ones, I reckon it would only take about 3 days with no power before there was chaos and looting! And that would just be the deliverroo types with no orders comming through, not even the main population sat wondering why theres no food or coffee arriving at their door.

Yesterday I formed 6.5 from .308, just because really! Have made plenty from .243 which is preferable as no neck turning required, shoulders will sharpen up when fire formed.

In reality most common and semi common calibres can be formed using something else. I form .280 from .270 nosler bought off of here once fired as .280 brass is very hard to get hold of and expensive to boot. Fire forming load is sub moa so plenty good enough for deer!

7.62x39 / 6.5 Grendel Would be awkward but they’re not exactly common.
