Notifying purchase of rifle

Am I missing something?
I have always notified the FLD when I have purchased a rifle etc.

Currently waiting on a private sale to be RFD transferred, seller has entered the rifle and mod on my certificate.

Trying to work out when to notify the acquisition (when the cert filled in or when I pick up the rifle from my RFD so it is actually in my possession)
Looking at my certificate, I can't find anything to say I have to notify acquisition, only that the seller has to notify disposal???

Any ideas?

Cheers TD66

Do it online 👍

Edit - and I don't think there is a moderator section, I believe you enter it as firearm???

Thanks, I always do it online even when buying from an RFD, just find it odd that there is nothing on the certificate to say I have to notify as the purchaser?

It clearly states that the seller has to notify disposal within 7 days, but nothing to say the recipient has to notify or a timescale?

I believe it is the seller's responsibility to notify of the transfer.
However, it seems that most purchasers do also take it upon themselves to notify their firearms dept of acquisitions.

I suggest you go onto the Police website and look. I did and it stated (Wiltshire) that I had to do it within 7 days of acquiring the rifle and mod -classed as another firearm.

I always email, referencing what I've bought 'under the authority of my certificate number ***', date, type, calibre, serial number (if relevant) and from where/whom.

I generally get an automated email response stating receipt should be taken as acknowledgement.

Thanks all... I was going to notify my FLD via the online system but was trying to work out whether to notify them within 7 days of the rifle being signed onto my certificate or within 7 days of the rifle actually being in my possession? (Which could be more than 7 days from the certificate date)

I'll drop my FLD an email to get clarification.

Wait until day six. Then notify. You really ought to have the thing by then. If the rifle hasn't turned up by then I'd still notify but also add the advice that it is not yet handed over to you.

Write them an email when it is added to your certificate stating such and that you will confirm when the rifle is physically in your possession. When the rifle arrives and is in your possession write them an email confirming such.

No way there can be an issue then!

FLD requested that I notify them within "7 days of purchase" so have done so, and will update them when it is in my possession.
