Notification of Transfers

I purchased a rifle a few weeks ago and was told last week it was ready for collection from my local RFD however I have been away with work since they told me and am not back for another week so havent collect the rifle yet. Before the transfer I had to post my FAC to the sellers address for them to fill out.

I'm now concerned that I should have notified my police force of the transfer when I posted my certificate. Does anyone know if the transfer date is when the FAC is filled in or when I actually collect the rifle from my RFD?

Contact you FEO and explain the situation.
Since the gun is at an RFD, I don't think there will be any major issues as long as you complete the paperwork when you get back

i have had a similar issue and because the rifle never left the RFD it was not a problem.

Did you just notify the transfer to police as the date you collected it? Or did you explain the situation to your FEO?

Technically you do not have it in your possession, so why would you notify them. There will be a trail that shows it with the rfd. I wouldn’t worry too much, unless the feo brings it up then you have good reason as to why a delay occurred.

No need for you to do anything until you collect it from your RFD.
At that point, you notify your firearms dept of the acquisition.
If anyone queries the discrepancy in dates, you have a perfect good reason for it. Just get your RFD to give you a collection chit, in case you ever need proof.

yes as others have said it was not in my possession so not a problem. did make me think at the time.

Transfer happens when you take delivery. Anything else is an error.

Also if anyone does try to get arsey about it, tell them you wanted to verify the serial number matched the entry made on your FAC before you filled on the paperwork.
