NRL Hunter UK

Our personal viewpoint is that what we provide is supervised, safe and structured practice for hunters. Arguably safer than ‘someone practicing on their own in a field unsupervised’.

We have a vast insurance policy and RO’s trained to the highest recognised national standard.

Not sure what more can be done in the UK to provide the average hunter an opportunity to ‘practice’ in line with their FAC.

Not every Force will agree but it’s ‘their train-set’ so we always ask those in doubt to speak to their FEO for guidance. Or if in doubt ask for a variation for a target condition, just to be certain.

Never had a problem here in Scotland and upped my allocation of ammunition to 400rnds for the training days that go canceled I’m thinking its the Met who objected to my mates allowance being upped and I guess they are muppets lol

It’s another example of how unfit the current system is, inconsistencies and personal views dictating who is allowed what on their FAC.

A national governing body, like the DVLA, is well overdue.

Our personal view is that as a new/aspirational stalker, without their own land/permission, who has been allowed a firearm in order to use it on paid stalks, how are they expected to practice effectively without a target condition?

There are a LOT of people in that boat and we are providing them with a safe and supervised means of undertaking that practice, making them a ‘better’, safer and more ethical hunter.

It’s a conversation we will welcome with any FEO/Police Force/Chief Constable and I know we will be supported by the NGO’s and Societies in the UK who promote such safe practice!

Agreed. I never understood why I was allowed to walk round the Great British countryside full of footpaths, shooting live animals..... but wasn't allowed to shoot in a controlled, safe environment

I see Seekins have now released (and hopefully arriving in our shores soon) the Havak PH3 which is available as a NRL Hunter spec - perfectly designed for turn key factory class.

I don’t get excited over many factory rifles but this, I like

That does look very good indeed!

Will see about getting hands on with one over here! Leave that one with me.

Only observation is the limited caliber options -
  • 6mm Creedmoor / 1:8 twist
  • 6.5mm Creedmoor / 1:8 twist
  • 6.5mm PRC / 1:8 twist
All optimum calibers in fairness but a few 7mm options would have gone down well.

The NRL Hunter is a model designed for this discipline

It has the Trigger tech diamond unit, a brake and a unique colour of the stock - all for a slight price increase (from US Seekins site)

Their standard PH3 Havak has the standard TT unit, and the same stock without the unique colour

This model is available in a variety of 7mm options including REM Mag and PRC

I’m sure both models would suit the discipline and be great out the box factory rifles

Another plus is it’s a switch barrel design (end user changeable )

Our weekend at Orion just got even better!

Would it be possible to just do the afternoon in the Saturday? I’d probably only get to you 12-1pm but I’d quite like to confirm dope for a couple of hours. I know they don’t like people coming and going at the range but perhaps a lunchtime arrival would be possible?

Can’t see why not. Will check and let you know. 👍

Good luck to all attending the forthcoming match at Orion

Simply can’t make it due to commitment elsewhere

Looking forwards to Eskdalemuir in Nov

Podcast was a great listen 👍🏻

Seriously interested in the forthcoming Otterburn courses - is Dale teaching or other tutor ?

I ask as it wasn’t clear who would be

Interested too on what may or may not be happening with regards to bullet construction ans use on steel and what changes are going to occur (if any)

What’s the story with the otterburn corses I don’t know anything about them I thought they were canceled?

If you listen to the most recent podcast there is mention that there is to be two Hunter based courses at Otterburn at the TSS area

Though it wasn’t clear if the courses would be conducted by Dale who has provenance to do so

Or someone else who May not have the same skills or provenance (which I hope isn’t going to be the case)

Brad Bourner would be an ideal course provider at Pro Sporting Solutions, who also has provenance and the skill set to do so
