Nv ir vs thermal scopes

Out last night. Thermal binoculars for spotting and starlight longbow nv for shooting.

Very frustrating when the grass is getting longer and foxes decide to move around the treashes and cant find it with the nv ir scope.

Back out tonight. And taking the thermal binoculars and thermal scope on the vartarg.PXL_20250502_222224811.webp

thermal scopes are so much better than nv , you will always shoot more with thermal,

when i take one of my nv rifles out now it feels you go way back in time

I've seen myself looking at a fox through my thermal spotter, then getting down to shoot it with my ir nv and I cant even see the fox because of vegitation/branches/rushes etc.
To me, the nv gives you a far more detailed picture than the thermal.
Same with lambing time, looking through the thermal at 100/200 yards, theres not a lot of difference between a lamb curled up sleeping or a fox curled up sleeping. Look through the nv and its obvious.

I agree, definitely prefer NV for positive ID, especially at range. I shoot alot of sheep farms and have never felt I have missed out on shooting a fox due to using NV.
