Bloke has gone through a lot of trouble getting first hand accounts of the 'Deer Wars'

Multi part podcast series, also on Spotify.

Not a historical piece by any means as there is no mention of the 'skins' era (where all recovered animals needed to be skinned out and the skins transported to road/riverside before bounties were paid out).

Still very much worth the listen!

Recently there was the sad loss of Sir Tim Wallis who was one of the pioneers of NZ deer capture and farming. I was fortunate to fly in his HOT Hughes 500 helicopter when I was out there in 2004 although it was a bit like Triggers broom by then given its history and I wasn’t shooting deer from it, purely used at that time as transport for mustering Merinos.
Sir Tim had an incredible and inspiring life, some of which is nicely described in this article…..
