OBD 11 Diagnostic Scanners

Well the OBD 11 arrived this afternoon so I gave it a try on the car. I was starting to believe that the problem lay with the EGR valve but the OBD told me that the problem was the DPF filter so a quick "trawl" through Youtube saw me getting a can of DPF Cleaner and low and behold 30 or so minutes later the Corsa was out of Limp Mode and running like nothing had ever been wrong so that was around £10 well spent on the OBD reader which as far as I am concerned was £10 very well spent as I hate to think what a garage would have charged me to diagnose and fix the problem!

excellent, glad it worked out for you. Now you need to stop driving it like an old granny and you shouldn't get that problem again

Brilliant!!! You must be feeling pretty good about that job, and rightly-so 😃
Feeling pretty good is a bit of an understatement, especially when you think that a garage may well/most likely would have charged me anything form £150 upwards!

Excuse me "An Old Granny", how dare you, you cheeky monkey! Now if you don't mind I'm off for my cup of hot chocolate before I get into my night gown and bed socks!

Have an Aldi OBD(£18) used it several times would read codes which I googled and allowed me to reset them.

Local garage said Turbo was failing, it needed some linkage freeing and lubricating.

That's a typical example of how you can get ripped off by some garages when you think of how much a new turbo would have cost (plus of course the labour charges) when you think about how little a tin of WD40 would cost you along with just a few minutes work at home - And just a little thought! Plus you still have your £18 OBD reader to use many times again should the need arise!

Don’t want to be a kill joy but there’s every chance the dpf problem will be back soon, many a quick clean is also a short time fix , spent the last six months haunted with dpf issues on my dmax when ever I think it’s sorted it comes back to cock up my day. I hope your lucky.

That may be the case, who knows? If it does return at least I will be able to diagnose and sort it!

I had my car in a garage who could not fix the issue as the Snap On OBDC scanner would not read the ECU properly. Dealer could not take it for 6-weeks so..
Bought a blue tooth OBDC plug of the Bay of Evil and with the app on my iPhone managed to run it without issues.
Googled the code.
Was a MAF sensor on the inlet manifold,
Bought the item for £28 and fitted in an hour, reset the codes and has been dandy since March 2023.
Don’t use supermarket fuel anymore as researching it seems related, false economy. BP ever since and no issues

About 15 years ago I had a Peugeot 306 TDI that when I bought it secondhand I thought it was down on power. I took it to Peugeot (naïve back in my 20's) who inspected it and said a new turbo was needed for around £1500. As I'd just bought the car for £2k I was pretty gutted. I thought I'd at least have a look at what it would entail if I tried to fit a reconditioned unit myself. While lifting the intercooler off the top of the engine I noticed a 10mm boost pipe was split next to the wastage actuator. I cut this section off, refitted everything and it worked perfectly! Plenty of boost and power performing as it should.

I've never trusted a garage since.

I was ripped off when I purchased a Peugot diesel. I was told DPF light was an electrical issue and DPF had been sorted out. 6 months later it went into limp mode. It went into Bristol DPF centre and the list of things wrong and cost to fix was 2x the cost of the car. I had not long had the cam belt replaced.
I scrapped it.
Moral never buy a car off a so call friend and if buying a diesel any issues with DPF ignore like the plague.
Previously had 2 x Zafarias 2 DTIs both did nearly 200k miles each.
