Hi all,
I’ve recently signed a new lease on a (130ha) bit of woodland in Perthshire and could really do with some help to pay for it so I plan to run a sort a of syndicate on it. Luckily it didn’t cost me £7k so I don’t need to exploit anyone!
The ground, I’m told, has Red, Roe and Fallow on it. I’ve been there twice and seen 14 roe and a fallow doe. I haven’t actually seen a red on it yet but knowing the area, I’d be astonished if there wasn’t any.
The ground is completely new to me and I don’t know it particularly at all but there does seem to be a fairly well used footpath through it. It’s mainly first rotation conifer so no restocks to protect as yet but there is a fenced area of new woodland to look after.
What I’m looking for/offering is three folk looking for experience who have DSC1 and insurance for accompanied stalking. My lease allows me to take guests out but no unaccompanied stalkers so I’d like to offer mentoring/help to new starts to get you some experience of shooting and gralloching deer. I’m not offering a full ghillie service but I’ll help drag and be there for support/to answer questions etc. I’m happy to do all of the gralloching etc. if you’re a complete newbie and have never even seen any of it.
I’d like to offer this on a per deer basis at a rate of £150 per deer. You can come out as many times as you need to (within reason) until you get your deer. You’ll take the carcass too and if you need help cutting it up, I can show you some of that too (although I’m not an expert butcher!). I’m happy for you to use my rifle if you don’t have your own yet.
I’d anticipate that I can offer at least three deer to each of the three members and after this first year, I’ll rethink and probably take on full syndicate members who will then be able to stalk unaccompanied going forward. I’d really like to use this as a bit of an audition for potential syndicate members.
I’m looking to start this sometime in May. If you’re interested, send me a PM with details of where you are and who you are and we’ll go from there.
