I missed your new thread so apologies...I ll add daylight antics to that one from now on.

I was getting fed up having to shoot, gralloch, skin and butcher fallow in quick order if it was more then 6°C outside so picked up a second hand walk in chiller of Ebay earlier this year. It just makes life more convenient and will hold 6 fallow (never likely to see that number). We are clearing room in the freezer for the pigs at the moment so no deer to be added for a few months (plenty of venison still in there).

First outing for the chiller last night and worked well ...and avoided dropping them off at midnight

I only put small game as the stalking department has its own space for large game etc and I didn't want to detract from it.

With your new thread Smelly is this effectively activities carried out in "legal light" so if its legal to shoot a deer its legal to post on thath thread and if illegal to shoot a deer its on "Out last night" And in case the PC police are reading this - I am not suggesting illegal activities- merely clarifying time periods

Sorry mate and not really a question more my sense of humor and looking at the classification of legal light defining night and day

For clarity I will go with the following - Anything shot one hour after sunset to one hour before sunrise - Out last night
Anything one hour before sunrise to one hour after sunset - Smellydogs new thread

Hopefully this keeps me off the naughty step but I somehow doubt it

Maybe Im just overly grumpy today.. though I have spraying duties tomorrow morning before work on some weeds on 6 acres at home and plan to be on the foxes tomorrow night and pigeons Sat afternoon so will probably be even more sleep deprived and grumpy next week

Real shame his products were great aftersales shocking
Used one of his add ons for years with great success. But as soon as I need help with it getting damaged it was like pi##ING in wind

Out last night on a local spot where my chosen location at the top of a sloping field looks down onto a patch of gorse some 250 yds away but with a good field of view over the neighboring fields.

On arrival I could see plenty hares and roe but no foxes.

Set the Foxpro away calling hare distress and had a fox come through the hedge after 12 minutes , 75 yd shot straight over , turned out to be a big dog cub.

Switched the call to cub distress and within minutes the vixen came through the same place in the hedge and she joined the cub

Drizzle arrived around 1am so stopped play .

Visited three places. Nowt but hares and a few rabbits. A badger ran across a distant field. Thermal worked perfectly last night. Bed for 01:00.
Logged this morning.
Pub next for a Guinness top up then out with the Winchester.

I was intending to zero the thermal today, but it seems this one could take five hours to charge it's internal onboard battery from it's new out of the box state.
