Out last night.

Crikey - all that needed Smelly, as it ran away was the Benny Hill music it ran so fast…..
I have previous with fences cleverly shooting across a lane in broad daylight at a sitter carefully avoiding the strands both sides, err, except the very old rusted one a foot from the muzzle which of course is visible as a wobbling blur.
Silly FB - again….

Here's my little haul from last night. They were almost certainly the work of one of the so-called charities, wreaking both environmental and economic vandalism on the area yet again...

This one was healthy apart from a strange section of the tail which had no fur at all:

And look at the state of this one:

There was a sixth too, but I couldn't find it in the brambles...
Used to get the same issue when I lived in Fife.
Every so often we would get a drop of .places you never see more than one Charlie. Then one night you shoot 7 or 8 in the one field.
And the sad thing is the people doing this think they are saving them .

Thanks O. I had forgotten the squeak, actually I was so bewildered by the mysterious miss I am surprised I managed it!
Maybe a late change of career working at the local dog pound beckons…

you call they will come 👍. wasn’t the right time for old charlie to make his mistake he will, the trick is being there upon sticks patiently waiting 😋 good luck mate

Thanks FB but I still got the missed fox blues.
The blues won't leave until I get out ( adjust the focus on the IR torch) and bag a Charlie.
Don’t worry you are not alone, I have the missed pricket blues . Fallow pricket 130m total miss , to make maters wores the chap that I have been taking with me waited until they stopped (they ran towards us) and dropped one like a stone :banghead: It’s ruined my Christmas 😡

Overlay, it’s not funny, laughing at your fellow stalkers when they are feeling down ☹️. I didn’t even feel like my Christmas dinner 😞

Don’t be down and lonely man

you should be happy you just got into the foxmis club, as a junior, very rarely do members make themselves known, one of the signs is a empty 204 round in the left hand pocket if you hear a jingle of empty rounds you can be assured they are highly esteemed foxmis members
after a while you will slowly build up to be an esteemed member just like quite a few of us on here. 🤣🤣🤣

ps it’s doesn’t matter whether it’s a fox, deer or Wabbit everyone is treated as equal, all I can say is put it behind you and think of next years prospects 🤣🤣🤣

Is it an omen?…..
Turned up, looked out the car window and there’s what turned out to be the vixen to Fridays dog fox walking away from the chicken coop, out the motor, sticks up, load the rifle and bingo, just hope they’re all that easy in ‘24 🤞
Just stood up in a horse field shelter out of the wind, No2 comes out the wood at 70yds and stands side on, 2-0 to the deuce and a very good end to ‘23😁
Think I’ll quit while I’m ahead 😜

Seen two this morning before light.
I refocused the IR torch and yep looks much better but the fox I lit up with it this morning soon got out of the way! Ok, it's one I've educated I'm sure so we will see.
Seen two this morning no shots fired.
I'll be back....

Nice one SD any vixens you can get now will make a big difference, best time of year really with minimum cover 👍

I've been out most nights this week, not fired a shot. Had these two on the 23rd, which brought my total on this one farm up to 22. These two were in good condition unlike the majority of the others that I'm certain were catch, repair and release judging by overall poor shape and in one dog fox, a lack of ballbag.

This farm is next to a duck farm - good intentions but why release them here?

Lovely looking pair

i’ve just finished a job on a turkey farm and I would say an average of 3-1 were dog foxes compared to vixens and over the few weeks it was well into double figures none were in the heavy weight brigade all good coats but all average and no mange on any

Well I had a window of opportunity before the rain set in to go a looking for Charlie again.

The dam thing was waiting for me again and I watched him follow the same pattern as his ancestors have done for decades here. Climb through thick timber to higher ground and even thicker timber and wait for me to reappear and then give a bark as if to say " up yours pal" 😞.

I've gotten myself another smart arse!
This is going to go on a bit....
