Out last night.

I just made a bait pipe, a little to fancy, I even deburred the cut outs..
I've shot foxes for many years but have always gone looking for them! Generally there have been release pens of game birds in the area that draw the foxes in. I have never thought about the concept of a bait pipe, seems like it would work well if you could regularly feed small amounts of food over time. I guess the pipe keeps away the crows, magpies and anything else that would feed on the scraps.

Now you have me thinking if I could use a bait pipe on my large Michigan woodland property for hunting coyotes and foxes, they key problem is keeping out all the other unwanted visitors like raccoons and black bears, the bears can be very destructive to any form of feeders!

Went out last night had two, a vixen first she was just mutching about in the field came to the call (hand squeek) dropped on the spot. then a dog fox, saw him come relatively close by but would not squeek in. he went in a big ark about 1/2 a mile away, then came in. I think he was looking for the vixen then he came in to the squeek, dropped on the spot too.

I have the photos but it says file too big how do I upload them please anyone?
Need to have a word with Noah, leaving that ark where foxes go in! 👍😘

What do you bait it with surely you cannot give up your bacon sarni for a foxes breakfast?

It is a good idea though I must make up a bait pipe.
Anything that gives off a bit of a bang. I used to use fish scraps from the local fishmonger. He closed so now I get the butchers scraps. What seems particularly appealing is pork! When supplies have run out I’ve used dry dog food.

Looks very smart mate but, constructive criticism, I think that bottom slit looks bit big. Beauty of pipe is fox can smell and lick out tit bits. You don't want him grabbing mouthful & legging it. Just my opinion.
Hmm.
For clarity - I presume you mean “lick out titbits” rather than what you posted - otherwise half the SD massive will be making the damn things!

PS
Err, don’t like to ask and all that but can I have the plans please - my mate is really, like really keen..

A couple of hours ago - dog in lambing field, spotted it with Axion while it was mooching about but it took off like a bat out of hell as soon as I squeaked. Didn’t have time to adjust the Pard008P focus when it finally stopped to my shout just short of its escape route! Moved its head just as I squeezed the triple deuce’s trigger so caught 50grains of Mr H’s Vmax through the chin en route to the chest.
Kinda pleased with this as I had to keep the B&Q’s finest quads moving and take a very quick shot at all of 237m but above all I remembered to hit “Record”!
Fifth fox in that field in not much more than a week.
Just love my Remmy!

Out this evening for the first time in a while due too me having man flu that took a bit of getting over and a wedding last weekend down in the big smoke, really nice to be back to full fitness and I was rewarded with this dog that came screaming in to my hand squeak to all of 60 yards before taking one to the bib from the.243 👍IMG_9408.webp

That is exactly what I am thinking for coyotes and fox. Not many magpies here but may attract a raven and they are legal to shoot. Great idea. Going to use roadkill. Cut to fit with an ax.

Yep roadkill was my plan, sounds quick and efficient with an ax, just have to make the holes small enough to keep the bears out!

Still sharp FB 👍
Did that lamb get better...the one that sounds like it's dying?

Aye Smelly - always good to get a wee reminder of just what the triple deuce can do.
Glad to report that the “lamb” is still alive and well Smelly - sitting up in his jimjams having a coffee. I went through my full repertoire before the fox finally stopped - 10 more feet and he was through the hedge and away. Dunno why he stopped and looked back from whence he came but glad he did.
Delighted the farmer again (no.5) but such a shame he hadn’t contacted me earlier - all the mysterious single-birth ewes’ girlfriends are now producing healthy twins!
Even better he gave me another contact who “needs my services” so will call this afternoon to safety check the land. Nice to get another piece of ground but I do wish it had some deer!
Life is still good; tiring but good….

Cracking bit of shooting and pest control well done foxy 👏

Well we know the bait pipes work and we know the lip squeak works but as I have had all my teeth removed and cant stand plastic dentures in my mouth I am struggling to make a sound lol so lets have a recording of hand squeaks so I can put it on my Foxpro caller I have a mouth call on it but does not sound right
