Out last night.

completely off thread i know.
ive noticed a lot of you dont use a mod cover
is there any reason for this?
i use a black jack pyke neoprene cover that i take off when i get home and the mods removed from my rifle
ive always done this, the cover is there for a couple of reasons
1/ to stop any shine from the mod
2/ i thought if the mod cooled slower that it would be less likely to corrode it from the inside
any views on this or am i just mad lol

Still grim over here so no foxing this week…
Today’s joyous forecast….

Your mad

Im not bothered about shine as its a black mod and the cooling side will be based on number of shots and ambient temp. However, if your happy with doing it carry on ..might well work and Im just a heathen

Last night's last minute weather check gave me a rain free period to get to the farm, at 17:50, I saw the other half of that early in cub Vixen that I got last week, but it was skylined, ...... He was back around again at 20:25 so managed to drop it, a double cab pickup rolled slowly into a big layby on the main drag to Wrexham, one up, nothing unusual, very often people will pull over for a pee or to eat their chips unaware they are being observed, when I am in that spot, driver hops out & stands against side of truck, yup! usual comfort break .............. BUT NO!, out comes a rifle & driver stands on the cill, no lights seen so he has to be on NV or Thermal , That's enough for me I grab a white light torch out of my bag & light him up ... jumps back in cab & sits for a few minutes while I hold the beam steady on him, then he drives slowly away down the road I follow him in the Mergers, he reverses into the next farm down turns & slowly drives back past towards Wrexham.
I had visions of him shooting my way, as I would not have been readily visible, my truck stone cold & only my eyes peeping out from the lift coat.

I've a black mod but still get shine on base mag 3.5 but never shoot on 3.5 so OK.

Didn't get any pictures as I decided to leave my phone in the truck, but considering the fog, I'm happy with the 2 bunnies that I got last night :)

It was quite nice to be honest, it was cold, about 15-20m vis, just be quiet and look for eyeshine with the red light. Its cheeper than NV, ok!

Near Wrexham?

I must say I am very jealous of you lads managing to get out , rain rain and more rain up here and life getting in the way, but need to make an effort before lambing safe shooting guys
Most of land here in Somerset has the water over the banks into fields
A lot of country roads we were on are completely submerged
But the foxes are still out
Having to change tactics to be more static than stalking as the fields are so waterlogged. But the fox boxes come in handy when it's this bad

Im fed up with it at the mo as well. When I can get out its thick mud ...and thats on the farms that arent flooded....so as Bumpy22 says just a case of pick a spot and try the caller and hope they come to you. My "local" (well less then 4 hours away) stalking ground is a lake at the moment so dont think I will be having much luck there 😭

Thank you - ferries unlikely to go til after lunchtime but that’s ok.

I stupidly used the food voucher on a ferry from Holyhead to Dublin back in 2020 ... then spent the bulk of the choppy journey either being sick..or trying not to be sick.....either a plane or starvation prior to sailing for me now :lol:

Hmm. Was a time the food on Stena was quite good - sadly it is a shadow of what it once was. Even Stena Plus is disappointing - except for the free wine……
