I'm quite surprised at some of the responses on here. It's OK to go and drive out to go the the shops to buy food where you'll be around lots of people and in places touching surfaces and items also touched by lots of people to get food? BUT don't think of going out on your own to shoot a deer for a couple of hours that'll fill your freezer for a few weeks and cost you nothing got her than the tools you have in your possession already?????

Not everyone on here is either a professional stalker with clients or contracts or paying a guide for a jolly in the countryside and not take the venison home. Some of us shoot a deer, take it home, eat it over a few weeks then go out and shoot another for no other reason than eating it. A lot of us shoot in places with no public access and not even any other footfall at all, I've never seen another person on a number of my stalking grounds in many years and you're telling me that's more dangerous and posing a risk than going to Tesco or the butchers? I've more chance of hurting myself in my home gym or at work than stalking.

All this talk of the police making an example of stalkers in nonsense, we're too strapped as it is and will be dealing with large gatherings in public and infected persons who don't care about being out and about to worry about someone quietly popping out on their own for a few hours in solitary and getting some meat. Especially when it lessens the burden on everyone else trying to buy whatever is left in the shops.

Too much ambiguity from our leaders.
If it’s alright to congregate on a building site for gain, but not alright to go out and meet no one, for exercise/pleasure or hobby and no pay.!
Ken.

New legislation is being enacted shortly to close the loopholes RE building sites. Any profession where an employer cannot guarantee safely keeping employees 2 or 3m apart at all times, bar emergency services and other related essential services will be shut down under new legislation under the proposals in the Corona Virus bill being rushed through parliament presently.

not me i,m supposed to be on site but i took one look and said no i,m going home ,i need to work but been told not to and my head says no stay at home. i,ve about three roe in my freezers so i dont need to shoot yet ,

Just asked Devon and Cornwall about driving 8 miles and stalking in a wood by myself. Their response says it all and we need to accept it and follow it to the letter.

“Thank you for your email sorry to say we have been advised that this would not be acceptable only Farmer, Land Owners and Professional Game Keepers are able to go out shooting at this time”

stay safe, do what we are told and save other people’s lives.

It says it all for D&C certainly but not it appears for all areas. It differs from the advice I was given but no surprises there as each authority will have their own views and responses until a centralised response is rolled out.

The problem is on the shooting forums people are finding ways to justify stalking as they always do. On the fishing forums they are discussing going fishing like they always do, same for golfing, climbing, running, skiing, sailing , hill walking and basically every outdoor activity.
The recreational activity is basically irrelevant. If you have to drive to get there, you are using more fuel and so need to interact with pumps and the staff more often, raising the risk. If you buy a sandwich and drink, you are raising the risk. If you then sell the venison, you are raising the risk. If you are unlucky enough to break down or have a smash, you then interact with more people , raising the risk. They are telling us to stay at home if possible, but are allowing limited access out to do vital shopping and the like simply as there is not a full infrastructure to keep us in our homes 100%. Its really not difficult, the rules are clear, but, if you do head out, and many will, ideally use the excuse that someone you have never met before on a shooting forum said it would be ok.

It’s some of the jobs on the list of people that can go out that gets me.
Gardeners, window cleaners, car wash along from me was mobbed earlier,
As to stalking we notified the landowner we shoot for saying sorry we won’t be coming out.
Supermarkets are still heaving ,pensioners, kids, couples pushing prams with babies in them.
