Out stalking during restrictions

To be honest most rape crops have failed around here this year and they've just started re-drilling with some cereal crops so there's sod all for the pigeons to eat at the moment, will be different when the pea's go in.
That's very true as I've seen quite a few fields locally where they're re-drilling as many early seeds just sat and rotted in the waterlogged ground.

I can't see where I have said don't exercise ? Ive been in the garden fighting the bee's all morning :)

This is the first day I've really had to start prepping seed beds and making up new greenhouse shelving...no bees but plenty of spiders underfoot in the greenhouse. It's all good, having timeto reflect and for those of us lucky enough to have gardens, to be able to enjoy them.

People are certainly not telling others what to do only pointing out what they should do and by Law ordered to, but no they still try and make out that they live 100% on Venison and nothing else and if they don't get out the nation will starve from a mass invasion of deer that really should already have been dealt with. This will take a combined effort from everyone to reduce what is round the corner, just look at Italy and Spain and soon to be America. Restrictions will get tougher be assured I also have older people I take care of family and friends but provisions were in place because we could see this coming.
Never said I live on venison, what I did say was if I can't buy meat and i run out that's what il be doing... And yes, people have said what to do and what not to do on here...

I can see the legal advice section being full of whining posts about how to get cert back after it’s been revoked for thinking their need to go stalking is greater than the need of the nation to fight this virus.
Play the game...enjoy time cleaning your gear, cooking, tinkering in your shed or whatever till the restrictions are lifted.
I have a feeling the police will be less than sympathetic if you’re caught.

no stalking, thats it but of interest is the pigeon shooting comment, now this will upset some but around my part of southern England no pigeon shooting has taken place over rape fields for five years and other than the wet field problems no estate has reported a drop in rape seed production, the general concensus is that yes pigeon eat rape but the rape recovers so they are not considered to be a problem, yes we use gas guns and rope banger etc but no pigeons are shot.make of that what you will!

Avian version of tillering perhaps?

I saved a rape crop last year by hammering the pigeons for a few weeks!

What about foxes taking lambs then??

Well lets hope your police force arent pursuing a model of "if you're caught then you lose your licence" - a court case to try to get your licence back is going to be WAY more expensive than going vegetarian for a few weeks.

The government edict is to stay at home unless its for food, medical treatment, one form of exercise or essential work - thats it. I cant see how deer stalking fits into any of those categories unfortunately.

For Petes sake guys we're not being asked to give up our lives forever and become recluses - its three weeks, thats it.

Just stay indoors.
I think you are possibly being a bit naive if you think this will be all over in three weeks.

good afternoon ,having just spoken to my firearms office to inform them that no shooting will take place on the estate until further notice and was informed if a shot is reported they will send the armed response team as normal police have other duties to carry out, this will get very interesting!! lets hope no one gets shot for doing something very stupid.

why on earth would you do this....?

Some common sence on radio4 just. Medical representatives being asked for an opinion on what you can or can't do.
One example question was, could/should you go to dig your allotment?
The reply was, if you are not in contact with other people when travelling or working, then of course you should. As you would be outside, getting exercise and growing food which may take the strain off supply chains.
So that pretty much sums up lone stalking?

Interesting debate, I am one for following the Gov advice. Lucky that I don’t have neighbours. I wonder if I would get in to trouble for going out the back on to one of the fields, walk the dog, take the children for 20mins fresh air or just happen to go on my own at dusk slot a roe? Then straight home, on private land at all times.

I dont really understand what that has to do with the rozzers or my FAC.

conversely, if I had to jump in the car and drive somewhere to go stalking then I appreciate I am breaking the rules.

The below is the BDS stance on it for those who are interested.

Restrictions
There has been a great deal of speculation as to whether deerstalking is an acceptable activity in the current situation. The government has given clear instructions that people must stay at home and avoid all non-essential travel.

It is the opinion of the BDS that recreational stalking, and its associated travel implications, are not essential and should therefore not take place at the current time.

Professional Stalkers should seek the advice of their employers, line managers or landowners.

We are aware that a number of organisations including SNH, FE and FLS have ceased all culling operations as of today.

The situation remains under constant review and further guidance will be given as appropriate.
