Keen to help a friend and take out two of his work clients stalking. They are after the experience not a trophy or venison so be cull roe bucks and or munities down here in Hampshire.

They are keen to pay and looking on here £100 to £120 per 2-3 hour stalk, am or pm, seems the normal? They want to experience the stalk together so should I charge both or they just pay once for the stalk and share? During the stalk both should get the opp of a shoot. Keen to do the right thing!

They have shot before but that will be checked on a target using my zeroed rifle and ammo, assume I charge for that too?

I have taken out people occasionally before but never charged. Appreciate any advice on what to charge. Thanks.

Be kind and take them out for free, I would 👍

With two you might want to do an ‘extended’ session of 5-6 hours and charge a bit more? That would give you a bit more time to find them both an animal and do a couple of ‘demonstration’ speed grallochs etc

If it was me I would probably ask for a grape or grain donation as opposed to cash.
Nothing like a nice single malt to enjoy after doing someone a favour!!

Do it for nothing, and make sure they have insurance through a shooting org

I've took quite a few guys out stalking over the years. Experienced guys and novices, mentored a few of them that needed it too. A couple of those guys have even shot medal status deer with me.
Never charged them a penny. Even if they do turn up in a fancy car.
There's too much greed in the Deer stalking circles.

Is it right you can charge for the bullets they use but not charge for using the rifle legally?
I've queried this before. The act says a non-certificate-holder may borrow a firearm and may purchase or acquire ammunition for that firearm. It doesn't say anywhere that they can hire a firearm 🤷‍♂️

Do you mate a favour, don’t charge, avoid any insurance or implied contract hassles. Also avoid any frustration if the stalking gods are agin you and you blank.

I would be happy if a very good bottle of Scottish or Irish wine appeared. And a tiny bit miffed if it did not.

However If your mate comes to expect stalking for free he is maybe not a mate you really want .

What I did for mates and still do now is tell them if they want to pay go else where, I may let them drive there ute instead of mine.
