Oven ready pheasants

We were in Malton this am and Derek Fox butchers was a gold mine.
We got 5 brace of oven ready pheasants for £20 so £2 bird.
Partidges were £4.50p brace.
So my deep freeze is stocked up this evening.
I have not had partridges for at least a decade. Sadly no ducks which are my favourite.

And to think only a couple of years ago certain German supermarkets were selling out of imported Romanian pheasant at £8 per bird, while UK shoots were having to bury them due to no outlets? We really do need to get a grip as a nation! UK game and venison is arguably some of the finest produce in the world, and I just can't fathom why it's not more widely available to the public at sensible prices like you've found

A huge detach from where food comes from. Despite the very basic skills required to render some meat from a shot gamebird, it would seem most people now find the concept completely alien.

Yep, folks going to food banks, but offer a few brace of pheasants, and they recoil in horror. We have become a nation of folks reliant on easy living.
Let the belt buckle rub on the backbone, and folks would snatch the hand that offered a brace.

The only way you'll change public opinion (in my opinion) is to provide cuts of easy to cook meat, in a kfc type coating that can be bunged in an air fryer for 20mins. I used to do Keeper Fried Pheasant goujons for beaters at lunchtime, they were really popular

i made pheasant snitzle on sat, i think this is the best use of the breasts ive found, quick to cook, juicy, and simple.

Love a pheasant parcel , black pudding - brea and cranberry - chorizo or plain streaky bacon wrapped . 60°c internal and rest .

Pheasant breast in blankets, with chestnut mushroom/garlic sauce. A very easy, tasty supper.
