Pangolin killings & corruption

That’s where Extinction Rebellion should be. Never mind saving the plant in a country that’s trying to do good; go out to these backward countries and China and protest there!

Ed
You’re absolutely right ! Sadly it’s easier to virtue signal against white westerners than where the problems really are ....

You would have thought by now given their breeding rate that most or some of these practices would have died out ,there is definately no shortage of young chinese about surely these protesters should target them and then maybe they could change their elders from within.

I'm a bit puzzled by all the venom directed at Extinction Rebellion.......do you really think the biodiversity of Britain is in good shape.......are Yolo Williams and David Attenborough making it all up. Is the govt doing anything at all to combat climate change ?
In my own region of mid wales - I've seen serious reductions in wild game and wild life generally over the last 40 years. There's many many country folk and plenty of hunters and shooters in extinction rebellion.
The government couldn't even cope with foot and mouth - do you really think they are going to be able to evacuate 13million people from London when the waters start rising. Scientists don't play silly games and make stuff up.......neither does the IPCC or Mark Carney from the Bank of England. You need to look again at the evidence and have a think what the government are doing about it.........which is sweet fa........then move your thoughts along to climate events causing food systems to collapse and the financial system......which we all know is based on fairy dust going too.......where will that lead us ? Didn't somebody famous say we are only three meals away from anarchy ?
It will effect the global south first - resulting in massive loss of life and millions of desperate climate refugees flooding into europe.......then it will be Europes turn.
Britains insects happen to be the most studied and recorded in the world......they have been steadily declining for the last ten years and are now at 50% of their previous numbers......i went into a oil seed rape field in the summer and didn't see a single insect........the whole field used to hum when we were kids........in parts of Germany the insects are down to 40%........think about pollination and food security.
Its a grim future unless we change how we consume and lead our lives.
Like any organisation.....there will people that annoy you and who's opinions you disagree with, but Extinction Rebellion and the school strikers are about the only people doing anything to protest about the governments criminal negligence regarding climate change.

To many people on a small ball floating around called earth. Whilst you are correct in that the countryside is disapearing in the UK at an alarming rate and that wildlife such as insects are in decline I still don't see how some if not most of these extinction rebellion people are going to make a difference.
Not to put too fine a point on it but most looked like they needed a good bath, stop smoking wacky backy and get a bloody job. Not all I know, but the scenes of some half naked idiot dancing whilst high on drugs in front of a line of police officers dosnt really help their cause.

I am all for protecting wildlife and against wildlife crime, and in some ways have helped with various environmental projects over the years, including the Giant Sable, Northern white Rhino, Quagga and Schimiter Horned Oryx, plus western Lowland Gorilla. I really fail to see what extinction rebellion have achieved up to now? Or perhaps you know more than I do, in which case please enlighten me.

In the meantime I am off later tomorrow to reduce the Wild Boar numbers in Hungary.

The worlds been heating up and cooling down for millions of years, it’s what it does.

As regards insect numbers, when I started driving some 40 odd years ago, you couldn't go anywhere without getting the windscreen covered in squashed flies. Now it only the odd one or two. They could be at 5% of previous numbers, not 50%. Although flea beetles try to redress the balance!

Ah but have they, over the last 40 yrs they might have learned how to dodge windscreens. hhmm ;) might not be due too farming changes and turning every other field into a cwd play area and ripping out hedgerows. could just be that they now see vehicles coming sooner with all the new led headlights.

Well........its very reassuring to know we have members here, with the confidence to totally disregard the empirical study of the worlds leading politicians, scientists, ecologists and economists.........truly hope you are right and that the government is going to sort it all out in good time.

You can look at as many studies and stats as you like but until the so called super powers or major players sort their **** out we are whistling in the wind. little people dont count as far as they are concerned if at all.

none of the above will "sort it out" and if anyone thinks that's even remotely possible they are naive to put it politely.

the earth will undoubtedly survive in some new beginning as it has done so many times before,as previously stated,,"it's what it does" a bunch of scientists pseudo or otherwise, or gubment who think they can somehow influence or halt this are as deluded as a certain King Canute. but the gullible will undoubtedly flock to the beach to witness the utter disappointment when they finally realise it isn't remotely possible and they could have been spending their time enjoying the present rather than some impossible to achieve utopia.
The planet doesn't care if certain species die out, us included, it will just evolve better equipped ones to replace them.
we are the parasites, the earth has its own DDT and it ain't afraid to use it.
as for those flying 1200 miles in a first class jet to give a speech to a bunch of idiots off their tits on hallucinogens who glued themselves to various objects in london,,,, well I shouldn't need to explain the lack of logic that requires eh.

go and shoot a few deer and fill the freezer. it's time well spent.

and according to some the new "religion" :tiphat:

well that certainly put me in my place.........I only hope history history proves you right.......can only think you must have no children or grandchildren's futures to worry about....

I sincerely hope that is the explaination........psuedo scientists.........hmm........well there you go......you can take a horse to water......but you can't make him drink........or as my dear wise yorkshire grandmother used to say............. " Don't try and teach a pig to sing........it only annoys the pig and frustrates you".......and my freezer is already full :)
