Nothing wrong with the services he's offering and he seems a pleasant enough guy so good luck to him.

I don't think he would like my single stick though!

I have just posted this message on another forum and then came across this one. Sorry lads but most of you are wrong...
I have just done my PDS1 and in fact it is accredited by LANTRA and UKRS, which more than I can say about the DSC1, which doesn't seem to be accredited by anyone. DMQ? What exactly is DMQ???
At any rate, I found the course to be excellent and what's more I was able to do the theory part on the hunting academy website online, which for someone like me, new to stalking, was super helpful as I can revisit the course as many times as I like. I have also done the skills part of the course with Peter Jones and found the whole set up to be brilliant. I have also now applied for my FAC and the police seem more than happy with the PDS1 accreditation

Notice Andrew Venables is on there from WMS. He knows his stuff and has an ace set up in Wales - probably doing the big game bit.
does he?? He certainly knows how to promote himself and commercial operation.

Maybe he can tell us all how to shoot those big, scary domesticated lynx cats while they eat catfood out of a bowl under a caravan.

I have no doubt it’s highly expensive but I suspect it is directed towards the city types rather than grass root stalkers.
Totally agree. There's lots of money in the city and the recipients need to spend their earnings somewhere. Not sure what exactly is wrong with a guy trying to divert a bit of it his way? It would appear that the green eyed monster is alive and well on this site again?

i’ve met peter jones a few times, never stalked on any of his ground and probably never will, it’s aimed at people who if they sign up to the club and pay monies to partake in club stalking could also have the chance to rub shoulders with mr venables and other real time experts in the field that time is worth it without a doubt, no matter who you are -
probably out of a lot of people’s pockets money wise, but if he showing people best practice for stalking deer and creating a good safe and deer respectful stalking with the whole experience good luck to him, no person, company or indeed an outfitter do this to lose money, i can’t see a problem with it, peter jones has been around a while including taking a few knocks and pretty well proven as a stayer in the world of stalking, providing something which for some could be out of reach due to work and location and no time to do anything, i can’t see a problem with what he provides, there would be less deer stalkers without him that’s for sure

Registered in February, then first three posts today.

Two to resurrect ancient threads to tell us how wrong we all are and how wonderful PDS1 is.

Isnt this forum about sharing your opinion? If you read my intro I have been bird shooting for a long time but I am new to deer stalking. You know older is not always better, so sorry if I disagree with your opinion.

Sorry if I sound doubtful, but have you not had any other opinions to share since registering in February?

BTW, I am not angry, just wary of those whose first two posts tell others "Sorry lads but most of you are wrong..." ;)

Well, now that Covid's gone away the 77th Brigade are obviously getting bored

I have just done the course and slowly getting into deer stalking, so No, before that I didn't have much to say. I just felt this was wrong information saying that it is not accredited, because it is. I also thought its good to share the opinion as I have experienced it and from all the posts it seems to me that people who are talking have never done PDS1 or have anything to do with County Deer Stalking. But they seem to have a very strong opinion about everything from instructors age, beard colour to the course itself.... ita not right! I am sure this industry ia better than that...

I guess the main question would be what made you decide on PDS rather than DSC? Given that the DSC courses are the ones commonly requested by firearms licensing offices it would've seemed the logical choice to take DSC1? Again, I'm not trying to sound as though I'm having a dig, but the Capreolous Club does have a reputation on SD as being very pretentious, very overpriced, and very exploitative (you just need to have a look at their online price list for their 'services' to see where they get that reputation) so I hope you'll forgive any scepticism . . . .

I believe at the time of the original post the PDS course was not accredited, so in the course of two years the course had become accredited and you are telling people they are wrong based on old information.

I'm really struggling to see what people have a problem with TBH. Centre Parcs is more expensive than a lot of other similarish holiday parks but it's full every week. I suspect that some of the attraction is that the price helps keep the riff raff out. Well if the holiday sector found a market then why shouldn't deer stalking? It might be a bit high-brow for a lot of people but so what? It doesn't mean that the training isn't decent and the stalking opportunities aren't good also.
It takes all sorts in this world and this site has an extremely diverse membership. This course may just suit some of those who don't need to count every penny?

LANTRA accredited doesn’t mean much nowadays. You can get an arse wiping course accredited by LANTRA if they get a cut. A fool and their money and all that.

The snobbery of this guy knows no bounds. I’m absolutely positive that he only shoots at deer because he thinks it fits his status. What a walloper.
