DMC Level 3

I don't think I'll be taking lessons from a one shot one kill expert. How do you combine a deer stalking course with an advert for a one shot rifle? Anyone who has stalked deer long enough will know first thing following a shot is reload for follow up. I know it's not needed on most occasions but you need to be ready and I don't care how good you are even monkeys fall out of trees occasionally

With practice reloading a single shot rifle can be almost as quick as a bolt action rifle. One shot, one kill seems to be a 100% success rate 🤔.

I’ve just sat and read this whole thread from start to finish.
Some really interesting comments from members.
I have DSC1 and 2. I have shot a few deer.
Would I learn anything from this new Level 3 course ? Yes, I think I would learn something. It’s a very self absorbed person to say they would learn nothing from it. Hubris has been the downfall of many (read the news at the moment)
However, am I willing to pay £750 to find out ? NO I am not.

Having spent quite a few years involved in training, I find it amusing that the ‘prior learning’ part needs quite a few credits and DSC1/2 actually don’t bring you that many. Nor do years of shooting muntjac - even though you may be able to show cull records of the hundreds you’ve shot.
I would’ve had more sympathy for it had they accepted the prior learning with a bit more kudos, but the simple reason they haven’t is it weakens their position to winkle cash from your wallet.

However, I notice this type of money making all around us. I help out at a local private school doing their minibus training. I’ve held a full class D (coach licence) for over 30 years, been an instructor since 1988, held an ADI from 2012 - 2024 and yes, none of that was taken into account by County Transport Association. That required a two day input from an outside trainer at a cost of £600 to the school, and guess what. The instructor turned up, asked about my previous experience and spent 5 hrs with me before signing me off. He booked another punter for my second day ! Sadly, it’s all about money.
One of the finest places I ever worked at had the motto of ‘Experiencia docet’ which means ‘experience teaches’ that’s sadly no longer the case.

People know the cost of everything and the value of nothing.

I think anyone who thinks it's a course needs to double check..... a course generally teaches you something, the dmc3 is not a course.
You will have to do other courses to gain the credits for the dmc3.

The BDS tried it and it failed.

Apparently the assessors for the level 3 already have their level 4 qualification, according to a recent comment by Peter Jones on one of his promotional Instagram posts, in response to a query from a sceptical stalker.

What I'd really like to know is who assessed them and awarded them L4... Some other guys who already have L5? Then there's L6 has got me wondering too...🤔😂
