'Period Dignity Officer'

Don't forget that boys can have periods too

A shame that they don't put these roles for a public vote before coming up with such idiocracy.

Those who approved this should be the next on the list to go as they would soon come back with another useless role.

Someone needs to spearhead an initiative to combat period poverty, and personally I don't see why it shouldn't be a bloke, although I can kind of understand why the appointment has provoked controversy.

It is a sad situation when, in a supposedly wealthy and developed country such as ours, there are teenage girls losing out on their education because they cannot afford period products and are therefore taking time off school every month due to the embarrassment of bleeding without proper sanitary protection.
Products should be available in public toilets, just as toilet tissues are provided without question, and someone needs to be appointed to make that happen.

I think you’d have to find another way. Having worked as a bouncer and been in a number of female toilets they trash them far more than men. They’d just be wasted.

Really well said. I support a charity that helps provide period products in developing countries and it shames me that (a) we cannot manage it in our own country and (b) people think it's something wokeist to take the **** about.

Some of you really need to grow up, those are our sisters, wives and daughters being affected and we should be supporting them in maintaining their dignity.

OK then, find another way. The person who was supposed to be looking into it appears to have lost their job.

I think you'll find Scotland already has . . . . .

So why do you consider it "idiotic" that someone should be appointed to consider ways of addressing the same problem in England?
One idiotic thing is that the role has been scrapped as a result of thoughtless whinging. Another idiotic thing is that some people on here seem to think it's a joking matter.

(As an aside, there used to be a male midwife at Bangor hospital. Totally dedicated, and absolutely brilliant at his job, apparently. Sadly, he took his own life after enduring years of ridicule and spite).
