PES T12

Activeviii: Yeah but it still says "the best noise reduction was Jointly held by the MAE T12 and Jet Z Compact"... so as a "sound moderator" these in my opinion are the best!

Like you say though, depends on budget and what you like the look when you buy - personally to me there's less than £100 difference between most of them, so as I shoot twice a week and have done for 16 years £100 is nothing for something I'll have for years and use thousands of times. As for looks, the MAE is the only one I like the look of as the others are either fugly or look like prototypes :)

WELL WITH RESPECT TO CLEANING.

sorry I'm on the phone,

right i always spray wd40 into the jetz after even 1 shot. i then place it in my heated cabinet with a bit of rag around it. the wd40 will evaporate after some time but it seems to be OK when i have my first shot from the rifle next time around, so its not doing anything other than adding a bit of lubricant to the mod/baffles, the nice thing about the jez z compact is that its so short and carbon deposits that do come loose will with no doubt be remove with the vacuum generated by the bullet passing the baffle system on the next shot.

on my predator 8 compact i just strip it down and wash it with hot soapy water, leave to dry on the radiator, and then place some good old Vaseline on the thread reassemble and away i go,

the dm80 on my 17hmr gets the same treatment but boy is that dirty even after 10 rounds,

then there's the sac, i leave it until it lights up the night sky when i ignite the unburnt powder at some point in the distance when i shoot that one and only round that makes you life your head up from the rifle sharpish like...

now i know people will say that gas sealing is very effective to help seal the moderator, that may well be the case on a strip-able mod, but in the case of a sealed mod (jet z type) its sealed and no matter how much crud builds up in it, it will still not reduce the noise any more than a clean one will (not that your ear will detect anyway.)

bob.
