Having not worked on my knives for several months I have recently made a few.
All these knives are of the highest grade Swedish Elmax powder steel, this a top level steel designed to be wear resistant which equates to longer lasting edges. Easily maintained with a strop but if it needs to be sharpened it must be with either a diamond or a ceramic sharpening system. I have ground these blades to incredibly fine edges which makes maintenance far easier, Due to the super fine grain structure of Elmax, along with its high compressive strength properties, such edges can be achieved. All my knives are genuine Elmax with the steel coming directly from the steel plant at Hagfors Sweden as opposed to the cheap Chinese 'rip off ' version of the steel
Remember, this is a steel costing around 2.5 times the price of other knife steels. It is only made in small quantities a few times a year, most of that steel goes to the north sea oil industry or food processing industry where high grade steels are a must.
All these knives have been heat treated and then Nitrogen 'soaked' and are 60-61 HRC. All sheaths are made by Gaz Kendall who has done work for the likes of Bentley. They have been 'wet formed/shrunk' as opposed to simple slide on sheaths and have a reassuring 'click' when the knife is placed in. So your knife will not fall out when stalking.
Ok another knife as pictured below. This time the knife is my Secare L model which is 258mm long with a cutting edge of 142mm, the spine is 3.27mm,
Ground to a true full flat , that is to the spine. As you can see the blade has been hand sanded along the length of the blade, trust me , no easy task with Elmax! As with most of my stalking knives secondary is is at 18 degrees. This blade is surgically sharp!
The handle is a bit different as it feature a tapered tang down to 1.2mm (comparison photo below) and so handles great in the hand. It also features a 'toxic green' G10 handle with red G10 liners and carbon fibre pins. The handle has also been sculpted for better grip. Due to the extra work that goes into a knife like this I would normally price it in excess of £425. Two examples shown in the first image but only this one left as the other sold last week.
Price - £399 inc secure over 18s postage- I will check.
