Peter's New rifle

Peter's new rifle finally came together however we are all so busy that lucky me took over the zeroing and testing. Based on an older Tikka T3 fitted with a Proof Prefit Sendero Carbon barrel 22" in 6.5CM. Atlasworx CTR/AICS mag system as well as 3 shot MDT flush fitting plastic mag all sitting in the new PSE Evolution stock with drop in fit precision bedding/lug. The fully adjustable stock weighs just under 25oz made of monocoque carbon construction. We had recently received the new Schmidt & Bender Meta 3-18x42 SFP scope which is an optical gem as well as quite light. The low 30mm Hunter Spuhr mounts fitted a treat on this setup. I just love Spuhr products as they scream quality. Unfortunately we don't have a rifle range anywhere close so opted to zero in our hunting area off the hood of the Landrover with a wobbly setup. Tried a few left over ammo types just to get a few shots down the barrel. One 3 shot group at ~103m looked quite promising. Wind was quite consistent at 10mph. A few shots at ~530m showed the barrel is probably quite a bit faster than my 20" Hardy carbon barrel using the same ammo. We'll look at that closer after a few shots are down the barrel. The two Labs, Gigi & Ellie joined me for the ride.

Absolutely brilliant! Thanks for sharing.

Now the best you can do is to offer ready made rifles including action, barrel, mag system and stock. There no way I‘m gonna get all the bits and pieces together myself and have a local gunsmith make a rifle out of it I can register.🙄

We were thinking of that a couple times and we do have a few good smiths that can re-barrel to a high standard however we do not have a proofing agency. UK is complicated and Germany you will need to make a chamber to suit whichever proofing agency you go to. Not good for one off rifles.

Thanks, smaller steps now to get closer to perfect. Barrell length up to 22" (like in the good ol days) helps the 6.5CM a bit. Similar in 308 would also be a very potent hunting setup. I must also pull my hat to Proof carbon barrels, initially thinking it is all just bluff and marketing but no, this is now the second one we have that shoots really well. The Evolution stock took us at least two years to design and get the internal structure/build right. Hunting stocks or all stocks for that matter will always be a bit of a compromise, in this case we are very satisfied with the result. It was a no "risk no fun" approach....

Looks good Edi - nice tidy setup.
Despite joining AnRiocht I'm using the same spot as well - grand quiet place. That last section of the track is getting very overgrown though.

Thanks, need to take the chain saw to the lane... hope to see you up there at some stage.
