What have the NRA done to diminish the event?

I did wonder about that too and can only guess they wanted a lot of dosh for a table in the pavilion and/or any marquee they might have erected to accommodate demand. That said the number of Traders has been on the decline for years and no doubt is now compounded by the challenges around FAC renewal/variation and the economic downturn arising - in no small part - from Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

But I could be wrong!

The worst one I’ve been to. A poor shadow of a once great trade fair. All down to the management of the NRA.

Some 30-years of continuous hammering the mechanisms that allow one to truly enjoy and engage with an interest in all types of firearms and the opportunity to shoot them. The NRA, in the context of the Phoenix Trade Fair, is but a small part of the problem.

It is however difficult to understand what I’m trying to convey unless you were an FAC holder pre mid 80’s.
