Photon xt 6.5x50s??

As I recall they can be used in daytime but they have a front lense cover with a tiny hole in it to restrict the amount of light.
I had one and it was ok ...though at circa £280 for a new/open box Zulu ZHD520 from Blackwood outdoors (I got one a few weeks back) I would think £200 is a little over the top for the Photon.

likewise have one with a doubler lens on my bruno .22lr still a good scope for that, but i agree they are not a day scope and now quite old, so value should reflect that £100 to £150 tops.
edit to add the IR touch looks to be LED so very little value, mine works good with a laser torch.

Shot plenty with one, do the job but not a patch on the Pard 008 etc, for £200 i’d look for one of those.

True, I have adjustable mounts on mine for this reason. They're ok for what they are but really you need to set them up for a dedicated night time rig and leave them alone. Not something to be swapping and changing between different guns etc.
I would pass on the XT.
Look for a Photon RT 6x50, take the removable centre out of the lens cap, then close the cap. Use a good IR and its good for foxing to 300m.
I used one for years, untill circuit board packed up.
Plenty of magnification without the need for a doubler.
Should find one around £200. Or less.
Photon, PhotonXT and the RT are not really very good in daylight. I had the original Photon as my first dedicated night vision scope. On a sub 12ft pcp.
Technology has moved on quite a bit since the photon xt, day use is poor and b&W, night time is ok but image can be grainy, worst of all imho is the zeroing, unless you're lucky and the ret is close to your poa, it will either be off centre or you need adjustable mounts, or you loosen and realign the head. £200 is way off the mark, £75 is more realistic, personally I wouldn't bother and wait for something better on here

Hello, Still using my MK 1 Photon with a night Fox 940 torch, Shot 100s of rats with this set up, If you looking for a Day/ Night scope i have 2 spare,
Back in the heyday of the nightvisionforumuk, following the discovery by a chap in Australia, we were improving them no end by converting them to what became known as the Extreme by removing the stock lens and fitting an M42 Pentax Takumar camera lens.. 55mm for rats n rabbits and a 105 for foxing. I got SRB Griturns in Dunstable to produce the adapters.
This coincided with the Osram AS LEDs coming out and resulted in a seriously good, camera quality image giving good detail out to 100’s of metres. The ability to close the shutter right down gave a good daytime picture too….
The weak point was the shutter petals meaning .223 was about as big as you’d want to go… I shot a lot of foxes with them on the .17 Rem and .20Prac.
Still got one with a 50mm lens for the air rifle or the Finnfire
Sadly, you had to hunt for a lens in good condition but they were about and could be serviced by Dave Boyle at the Camera Repair centre in Bletchley for a very reasonable rate. He used a slightly thicker grease on mine to make them a bit more resilient.
As mentioned above, the Pard008 really put paid to it.
Photons go for about £70-£75 at auction.
As it ‘’appens , I tried to zero one on a mate’s air rifle this morning but ran out of vertical adjustment
In the dim and distant, I have taken one apart and shimmed the corners of the camera board to get it to point in the right direction it was that far out of alignment.

I’ll never forget the day i took delivery of my 008 from Splatty, It came to my work and over the road 150yds away there was a silo with an artificial owl on top to deter the seaguls, this was mine and my shooting buddies “test” for looking through conventional scopes to make out the detail of the owl.
We sparked it up and looked through it at the owl and just laughed at each other, NV had just moved to the next level.
Suffice to say he ordered one that night.
