Picatinny / weaver rails and QD mounts

I have a rifle that came with a weaver rail. It came with QD mounts ( can check the make / model). However, I brought in advance a set of QD tier one picatinny two piece mounts, with the intention of using these to mount my Zeiss glass when needed and swap out my HikMicro Alpex 4K. Of course, the Tier one mounts recoil lugs are too wide to fit the weaver. So I need to buy a picatinny rail for the new rifle. The Hik has the weaver mounts, will it be an issue using weaver mounts on a picatinny rail because of the potential play in the recoil lug? Or do I also need to buy another set of Tier one QD picatinny mounts to match the rail?

Your weaver mounts will be fine on a Picatinny rail provided that you push them forward so the recoil bar is hard up against the front of the slot

All my rifles sport picatinny rails and I've used Leupold QRW rings on them for years . When swapping over , remember to push forward on the mounts to engage the recoil lug as Donkey Basher said , before securing . There are other dimensional difficulties with some rings , I tried the Hawke Pro rings and they didn't seat properly on the rails .
I also found wet mounting gives better consistency.

OK, so I should be good just swapping in a new rail to replace the weaver……..any recommendations? Optics warehouse have Britannia rails in stock….any good?

I've never had a problem with Britannia but I've seen a few negative comments in the past . I've had a couple of Tier One's , again a few negative comments and the screws are of particular poor quality.
If you can stretch to it Contessa are good .

I'm sure others will be along to recommend some others .

Just seen through a similar scenario.ended up fitting a contessa XX pic rail on my 202 with tier one's for the alpex but then what the heck I'll get another set of tier ones to fit my original swaro 8 x 56 Cos I love it .... slightly expensive but swapped them all about yesterday with no loss of zero . well impressed and confidence restored....hope this helps .
