Pick up as a main car

Just purchased last week a 2015 L200 new shape warrior! first impressions really good averaging 34-36mpg which is a lot better than my old L200, cant fault them at all, excellent motors.

What's all this talk about MPG? You guys lose several thousand quid a year in value deprecation and bitch about few miles per gallon difference?

People just have to accept the poor fuel comsumption of a truck, they're all much the same.
At the end of the day it's a pick up truck weighing 2 tonnes, on big tyres with the areodymanics of a house brick!!!

I owned an 2007 l200 warrior. Not used of road on anger just plodding along in fields and muddy tracks also as a daily commuter. I had loads of electronic / sensor issues. I am just wondering if anyone else has had these gremlins. I managed to crack the leaf springs as well. I ended getting rid of the l200 and purchased a shogun. Cannot fault the shogun. Really happy with the shogun no complaints as of yet. Another problem I had with the l200 was the rear diff went costing £900. Any one else suffered with this or did I just have a one of truck.

As good an answer as you'll get. If you want good fuel consumption buy a wee car. If you want to go off road and tow stuff get a truck of some sorts. I've a Hilux and its grand, but to be honest they all look pretty good, the new Izuzu looks pretty good, so does the ford. There cant be much in it really. But for me a trip total of 270 miles towing the argo is a tank of fuel or near as dam it. If you cant afford that then dont get one!

I've been looking at pickups to replace my '96 discovery. Had narrowed it down to the Ranger (3.2) based on crash tests, engine output etc (discounted the VWs based on problems with their recent car diesels) but it has a DPF.

I see little point in attaching something to a vehicle that may spend a lot of time just chugging round which means you have to go on a brief dual carriageway spin every week or so (or spend a couple of thou getting it replaced) so am now looking at a used petrol rangerover.

I too am looking to replace my trusty old 1996 Disco with a pick up soon. Had the Disco years, it's like an old slipper and has served me well.

Have been slightly worried about some horror stories of some L200's having engine probs. the Isuzu Rodeo looks to be good, a pal has one and I've driven it quite a bit and it's nice. Another pal has a Toyota Hilux Invincible and that's nice too.

MPG wise the Disco only gives me around 25ish I would imagine, and have been feeding that for years so I'm used to the cost of fuel. I suppose there is good and bad in every motor, sometimes you get lucky, other times it turns out to be a Friday afternoon lemon!

I am happy with my Nissan D40 Mk2 that I bought last year, relatively high fuel consumption of 33mpg ish is what you would expect from such a versatile vehicle. I took advantage of the BASC members discount and saved several thousand pounds off the list price, this is available for other makes as well. Only 2 downsides to the vehicle so far, the factory fitted intermediate tyres are not as good as Bridgestone AT's on mud and Wightlink ferries changed their price structure recently and now it costs around £ 170.00 instead of £ 48.00 for a return trip to the mainland. Fortunately Red Funnel charge around £ 54 return for their ferry trip.
