Based on comments made on other threads I thought it would be interesting to see where we are with the glass vs digital/thermal scopes
Please note, this is for the dedicated deer rifle, not foxing or any other. If you fox rifle is you deer rifle, then please add it.
This is not to start a love it or hate it, simply, see how the market currently is.
Add ons do not count as they will be on glass.

Four deer rifles used at different times during the year for different species. One has thermal, the rest glass but I have a thermal clip-on that fits all 3. One of those 3 had a Hik Alpex 4k LRF on it last year - that scope is now languishing on my desk. Been an interesting 18 months but I have returned to favouring the glass again, primarily due to quality of daylight viewing but I relish the add-on to still get those golden hours.

How many go to, this is my main rifle, do you use? Lol
Depends on the time of year and time of day. When dawn breaks when everyone else is still sleeping I really enjoy getting out with glass - plenty of light and a lightweight outfit. Likewise, Feb/March afternoons, stalking on foot when roe does can be out in the fields from lunch till dark - lightweight glass rig. Dawn and dusk sessions from October through to end of April then the Alpex reigns supreme.

I have just bought a HIK Alpex which I have put on my Blaser as I had a spare set of rings and mounts.
I must admit at this time of year when your shooting deer in a woodland setting and there's still an half hour of legal time left to shoot the Alpex comes into its own.
I haven't voted because there's no option for having both.

As per post #14, I have two ‘go to’ stalking rifles depending on the circumstances.

If I’m out early morning when light is improving by the minute, or I’m having a potter around the woods after a morning sit up or an afternoon wonder, then it’s the 308 with glass on the top.

If I’m sitting up waiting for last light then it’s the 6.5 with the Alpex on top.

I’ve only used the Alpex for one doe season but it’s been a game changer for me.

Not going to vote as both have their place.

Any issues with shift in zero etc
