Poor Condition with 2 swollen front knuckles

Hi,

I would be grateful on advice please. Bin, Ferret food or what ???

I shot a lone buck this morning which was lying out in a wheat field. The 1st thing I did wrong was although I stalked to it and watched it for 30 or so minutes I did not see it stand or walk around. To observe normal behaviour and movement etc. Before the shot I wondered if all was well. Although this time of year lying and sunning isn't a cause for concern.
On walking up to him it was obviously noticeable he was in poor body condition being able to feel his spin and hips clearly not plump. I noticed the 2 front knuckle joints were both swollen and a healed wound by one hoof but did not appear to be new wounds.
I examined the organs and glands and althogh I would say most looked normal some certainly seemed larger than normal to me especially so in the groin. ( not sure if lack of mass and fat has made it look so). The other sin was to head shoot him and when I have checked the sub maxillary and retropharyngeal I can only find 1 of each due to the damage but these did look fine and not swollen.

more photos. Hopefully in 1st post have portal and mediastinal with body and knuckles and can see the sunken in haunches and dirty chest. This post the groin, mesentric and I am not sure of the name on one on the stomach but not in order as described.

Liver, heart, kidneys and spleen all looked fine.
