Just looking for advice to keep reading post DSC1 my FAC application was returned and I have to apply coterminous with my other certificates which is fair enough, I just want to keep up the learning in preparation for FAC and doing my DSC2

Any decent informative books to pick up?

Thanks folks!

Always thought that if you wanted to you could have certificates running with different expiry dates.

Then if you wanted to go coterminous then you had your SGC cancelled & a new one issued to run as per the dates on the FAC. Pretty certain that is what happened when first got an FAC & had held a SGC for many years beforehand.

There are several excellent stalking books to read that have come out in recent years so pretty much up to date. Two that I have on my bookcase that I rate and have enjoyed reading are-
The Complete Deer Stalker, From Field to Larder. Written by Larry Fowles who is a site member.
Practical Deer Management, by Charles Smith-Jones another site member.

One that I haven't got yet but it's on my buy list is - Deer Management in the U.K. by Dominic Griffiths. (Funny enough I think he's a site member as well). Highly rated so I understand.

There are a couple of books on stalking by one or two writers that I shall hopefully forget. In fact I loaned the one out many months ago and I'm not even worried if I ever get it back, so be choosey about what you buy to add to your library.

Thank you very much for this! 👍

Deer Law and Liabilities - Charlie Parkes and John Thornley
The Roe Deer - Henry Tegner (slightly dated but an interesting read and a bit of a classic).
Muntjac - managing an alien species. Charles Smith-Jones.
The Roe Deer - Richard Prior
Trees and Deer - Richard Prior (excellent insight into deer management as a part of forestry and woodland management)
Wild Deer in Britain - Harris and Duff (also slightly dated but a good post DSC1 coverage of all the species in a very readable format)
I tend to avoid the 'how to stalk' types of book and stick to ones about deer, habits, habitat etc. Hope those are useful?
