Went up to Yate PO this afternoon. It was shut note on door stated technical issues. Same story at Coalpit heath PO. I was told PO counter down nationwide.
Downdetector shows massive spike in reports of services being down.
Has the PO been hacked?

Just went to my nearest, to post my parcel told the Server is down. Whatsapp messaged to say what happened to the recipient Surprised to be informed, down North of the border as well ! Would you believe I've just had an E/Mail from Parcel Force to remind me of other drop off points. No mention of the shut down?

BC.

That explains why my 24hr tracked parcel hasn't arrived as expected...........probably a bunch of kids playing hackers.

"Oh brave new world that hath such people in it..."

Quite possibly/probably unrelated to this but have always found royal mail very reliable in the past, however, recently not so much, tracked services taking longer than expected, couple of second class items taken upwards of a week recently.

Something just seems to be slipping with them, would normally try and use them by default to send anything but now, not so much.

Were they not taken over by a czech billionaire.

I ordered an item by 13.00 on Weds, which was sent using Parcelforce 24 hr signed for, so I expected it some time yesterday, and received an email and text confirming that this was correct.
Yesterday am, the tracking number also confirmed that "we have your parcel and it's at your distribution hub being prepared for delivery"
No sign of the parcel yesterday. This mornings check of the tracking number indicated that they had tried to deliver it, but were unable to get a signature, so left a card and took it back to the hub.
There was no card left.........and an attempt to contact them by phone to "Speak to an agent" resulted in a recorded message with 4 options, none of which allowed me to speak to an agent.
I decided to request a re-delivery to the same address using the usual crap of "answering clearly and distinctly", and "use your keypad to enter the number followed by a hash"

I'm not holding my breath.....

PO up and running again this am. Appears tech issue shut whole system down for several hours yesterday afternoon.
I have been a victim of that ruse. Its because they are using agency staff who don't care a dck.
Reported it to post next day. He said same agency worker rocked up at the local vets and just put card though door and drove off. Staff watched him do it!
In my case I was in all day. It was also for a 48 hr delivered item.
Sadly RM going down the drain.
When working I must say I have had stuff delivered in sub 24 hrs which is remarkable.

Here our postman freely admits they don't deliver daily anymore but every 3 days .
They even deliver for Evri that used to be that Herpes firm.
Help us all when the new owner has finished his cost cutting.

So I purchased an item from a member on here, he posted it for me with Tracked 24 service, and dropped it off at the post office before 8AM, and still didn’t arrive the following day.

Similarly I had a variation in recently. Called them to chase it up and they told me it had been posted out over a week prior, and then arrived several days later. They told me at the time they would send a duplicate certificate that day, which is still yet to arrive.

So I’m not at all surprised by what you say at all.

That’s interesting, as I’ve suspected for a while now that the same thing was happening here, quite often letters arrive which are dated quite a number of days before receiving.

It was almost like they waited until they had a bundle of stuff to come and deliver it.

Spot on ,as he said they'l deny everything but Saturday post is also ancient history hereabouts.
it's a slippery slope but once bean counters get control job done, game over.

We have a parcelforce driver that delivers locally I say deliver with reservations unless he can throw it doing 70 miles an hour through the village you have no chance of receiving an item.

The postmistress said her till was shut and she was unable to open it. Rural Aberdeenshire. Another technical f**k up.

Out of interest, in the event of an EMP, where does the digital cash go?
