Postage rip off

I really could not believe it, if some firms in the UK no longer want to deal with orders
to Northern Ireland they should just say so, 30 minutes ago I tried to order a modified case
from Livens the price was ok except that they wanted £25 postage at least Dick Turpin
wore a mask

I agree it’s a total ripoff some retailers are making more profit from postage charges the goods they sell.
What modified case you after I’ve a few here if it’s something special I could nip over Livens I’m only eight miles away happy to help a fellow shooter if I can.

Brexit again I’m afraid, for small orders, the paperwork is just too onerous for traders with low volumes.
I used to buy a lot of small value random stuff from the UK, not anymore, even if they’ll ship it, VAT + DUTY doubles the price.
TEMU and Amazon work, even with the extended delivery dates.

I posted a father's day card the other day. £1.70 for a first class stamp. It's mental
i read something about this the other day, someone mentioned the price of postage for a card or letter, the blokes answer made a lot of sense when you think about it,
weather your card is posted at a post office or letter box, someone has to come pick that card up, take it to the nearest sorting office, could be 5-20 mile away, it then has to be sorted, then picked up again, sent off to another main sorting office nearer the person who is getting the card, this may go on a plane, train or a wagon, then it has to be sorted again, then probably sent to the nearest sorting office, then some poor sod has to shlep about all day with it in his sack come rain hail or sunshine until it reaches where its going, put a price on that, £1.70 doesnt seem so bad does it??
depending on calibre, its not even the price a bullet, :tiphat:

As has already been alluded to ,all you lads over there should ask lads over here to post for you. So long as they arnt stupid high price purchases you'll find plenty to accommodate you.

Trying to arrange uplift of a pair of 5’ secondhand trailer quad ramps from the Midlands, to Grampian Appx value £45. Apparently the Royal Mail won’t look at them (presumably too long) , was quoted £310 +VAT by a courier. I might have to buy that pint on the way there, and back!
New 6’ alloy folding ramps are £60 delivered…🤔😆

Depends if you agree that Royal Mail should be a public service such as the USPS and therefore subsidised so it's cheap enough for everyone to use, or if it should be run as a private business for profit.

Last year someone worked out it was cheaper to take 100 Christmas cards on a return flight to Europe (I can't remember which country) and post them all back internationally using their foreign nationalised postal service.
