Powder for 147eld-m in 6.5creedmoore

Hunter 6.5

Hi everyone, pretty much settled on powders for my other rifles but struggling to find the right one for this combo. It's a tikka t3x with 24.5" barrel I am getting good accuracy but struggling with speed. This is for long range gongs shooting. Any recommendations appreciated except RS and Aliant powders as they are non existent in this part of the UK. Thanks

Ramshot Hunter or RS60

There is another thread running about RS60 in a Creedmoor with those bullets.

I originally went with Ramshot as it's a spherical powder and I was using a thrower. Once I got my Chargemaster Lite I moved to RS 60 as it's an extruded powder.

IMG_0450.webpCouple of Vhit options there. I use 42.5gr of 555 behind the 140eldm in mine and get a good 2730 out of them. So could try the 555 behind it based on the above….

I have the same rifle, and use RS60 for the ELD-X 143, but if you can get it, the RL26 was excellent with the ELD-M 147.

This is my load development. lengths are to the ojive.

As @disco_ike above , give viht 555 a go .
I was getting 2750 fps with the 140 eldm and a 22” barrel and probably could have pushed them farther . Now have a 24” barrel but haven’t tried eldm’s

RS70 is also very good - I’ve been using 45gn of that with the 140gn ELDM and the rifle is a tack driver
