PPU HPBT Match 55gr heads

Still new to home loading so went for Hornady heads first time round as I recognised the brand, using traditional and VMax heads for my 223. Was wondering if anyone has had any experience with the PPU match heads and what they thought of them?

Want to try other brands but thought it best to ask first. Its only for target shooting and not looking to spend loads, also open to suggestions for 308 heads (although had good results with ELD-M).

Given you're new to reloading, firstly, it isn't a head. Its a bullet. The "head" of a case is where the primer goes.

It depends entirely on what you're doing, if you're just shooting targets at 100 yards, yes, the PPU Will be absolutely fine. If your doing 600 yard comps, maybe not.

As for the 308, sierra matchkings, hornady eld's and any other target bullet will be absolutely fine and are cheap. If you can find PPU match bullets in that and you're plinking at 100 yards, use them

Thanks, the 223 will only be for 100/200 yards, maybe 600 occasionally.

Got the 308 and a 6.5 for 600 yards or more.

I have used the PPU 223 ammo as well as bullets. More than good enough for plinking gongs out to 300, and cheaper than just about anything else.

But if you can find Geco Target / training ammo it is better.
