The Precision Rifle League will encompass existing events throughout the United Kingdom and equally encourage new precision rifle shooting. The PRL’s primary aim is to provide a positive resource for fellow shooters, helping to develop and expand precision rifle shooting for the benefit of all.

There are several unique precision rifle events across the UK. However until now, there has been no single point of reference in relation to these great shoots. The league is designed to address this, promoting these event and enabling shooters to see their progress on a national level for the first time.

Matches or Challenges as they are better known, will range from Scotland to Cornwall. Individuals can enter as many challenges as desired, with the top two scores from different locations counting towards their PRL Leaderboard place.

The Leaderboard will be split into two main elements: Open Division or Factory Division. After the final round of the year is fired, trophies and prizes will be awarded to the top three in each division. Beyond this there are sub categories such as International, Ladies, Parasport etc.

Additionally if you have made the commitment to attend two separate challenges and thus are on the Leaderboard, you will be entered into the Precision Rifle League Sponsors Raffle. This random raffle ensures no bias and guarantees everyone on the leaderboard (regardless of placing) has an equal chance of winning a prize.

The Challenge Calendar for 2019:

4/5th May – Spring Roundhouse Rifle Challenge

25/26th May – Gardners Guns Challenge

15/16th June – TBA Soon…

13/14th July – Summer Roundhouse Rifle Challenge

7/8th Sept. – Gardners Guns Challenge & Sponsors Raffle

Would encourage anyone on here with magazine fed rifle to have a go at these comps

They’re fun with capital F

These events are fantastic and the company is good, too. Glad to see it going from strength to strength.

Highly recommended!

Ben

I may be dense but the list of events doesn't say where they are? I guess the Orion one is held at the Orion firearms training place? As I'm right in the bottom of the South East it's hard to know if I can justify some of the travelling if there not a couple close by.

The whole point of the series (apart from the multi positional / distance stages) is to get people travelling bettween the three centres

Roundhouse Firearms in the southwest

Orion in central (Wales)

Gardner Guns in the north

Just the same as any other discipline - F Class for example - Bisley / Diggle / Blair Athol

Three centres of competition allowing entrants to travel and compete close to home or away for experience of a new place

It’s funny how on this small island we consider a 4 or 6hr drive a long way! I’m guilty of this, despite having lived and worked in Oz for a bit!

The sort of facilities required for this sort of shooting tends to mean the venues are few and far between.

I used to hate to travel long distances to shoot but now it’s part of the adventure. Staying over the night(s) at Roundhouse is a great laugh, with the sizeable “open” BBQ in the barn, with a few beers/cider and banter.

I’m in West Wales so generally miles from anywhere: making the comps at Bisley or Roundhouse into a weekend away is time well spent.

Ah ok that makes sense I suppose and sounds like quite a bit of fun. With a young family and working shifts I'm not sure it's too feasible for me at the moment.

+1, some details on the comp locations would be handy to allow consideration. I'm sure more details will come as this grows.

A quick search on google having read the competition calendar may assist

The web page has just been released so bound to have some snags.

Sure more information will be posted - the first Comp isn’t till May 19 after all - so plenty of time to prepare

For those interested in this style of competition I suggest you have a look at some of the PRS video on the web

The stages are mainly timed and ten shots on multiple targets and it positional changes within the time frame Shooting from obstacles

A bit like everyday stalking (off wall standing beside tree Off uneven ground prone - so will be excellent practice for the stalker

Sounds good and I'm getting keener! How long is each meet? Just trying to see if I can justify it as a weekend away with the wife if I can find something for her to do nearby!

But how do fuel prices compare with ours?
I can do Bisley in about 2 hrs, at least once a month.

You make it sound like it should be named 'Practical Rifle'.

You don’t have to dress in cammo to participate in PRS or use an Ar 15 style rifle and I’d suggest that targetry from 100-1000 yds and further in some instances and away from sanitised flat ground is a bus drive away from practical rifle

Though I may be wrong
