Pulsar digex illumination

PBiR with dimmer or Wicked Light
This has been suggested to me before but was told that it’s very heavy, everything has to be as light as possible for health reasons
Do you have the N450 Digex?
I have been using one for the last fortnight now and I think it is awesome. I have it on the HMR at the moment and shooting rabbits out to 125yds just on 8 x Mag with the IR on lowest setting and I just cannot miss. Cannot believe I put it off so long. It has completely revolutionised my night time rabbit control. So easy to flick on and bang, and flick off again. The rifle is easy to carry and none of the add on crap and eye relief issues and mounting height issues of other kit.
I have not used it on foxes yet but I am sure it would be fine on foxes out to 200yds and shots at those ranges are rare.
I can try mine with a T20 and T38 with some different old school pills in to see if performance increases and can let you know. I understand not wanting anymore weight or kit dimension increase than is absolutely necessary.
The Digex is easily overpowered by too much IR, so don't use any of the new vcsel based illuminator.
Probably a cheap 850nm from E bay would be more than good enough

Out of interest, what NV were you using before?
I used (and still do on other rifles) an old Ward 700 add on with a Solaris SRX which is generally used for foxing with various rifles.
That works well for foxes on rifles where I do not want to be bound by a dedicated scope and need them to function with a day scope as well.
The Digex is much much better for high volume rabbit control though. The Ward is better for looking at stuff clearly at 400yds through compatible day scope glass.
I think it should say the model number on the side of USB cover which is where the windage turret would be on a normal scope.
Reason I asked is that I thought maybe you have the higher NM torch which is more covert but has less power/range but it sounds like you have the more powerful torch.
Sorry I cannot help otherwise. Night vision is often a difficult thing to quantify. We all want perfect vision but the reality is that it is nothing like looking through a high quality day scope. If I can clearly see and am able to aim at my chosen quarry, I am happy with it. The Digex does that for me well.

I use a ward d 700, and was thinking of changing to a dedicated scope. Drone pro was top of the list, but struggling to spend that much money on a night vision.
What is the pulsar like compared to the drone pro?

You'll get lots of different opinions, and your final choice will depends on what you;re shooting and at what sort of ranges.
I've used a Drone Pro, Digex and PARD NV008
I'd rate them (best tow worst)
Drone Pro - great image quality and can handle a wide range of visible and IR light intensity - virtually impossible to white out
PARD NV008 - best day/night option and although it needs a lot of IR, it does produce and excellent NV image
Digex - most sensitive, but whites out very easily, no daylight capability worth speaking about, very "soft" image. Basically designed for shooting large targets (boar) at short ranges in moonlight or with minimal IR. Increasing numbers of people who have bought them are returning them or selling them on because they white out too easily.
PS The somewhat cheaper Yukon Sightline is basically a Digex with the "toys" removed

Thanks Cottis, it is a 450, I’m still a bit confused, there are some people saying there brilliant and handle foxes up to 200 yard, and as in the mealiejimmys Post above saying that there getting sent back or sold on. I’m going to try it with a night- tec t38 tomorrow night and see what the outcome is.
I do wish it had more base magnification, but I have killed 16 foxes with the last 16 shots with mine. No cubs yet, either. As I get older, I do take less notice of the opinions of others, as long as I have relevant experience and knowledge. I won't be returning my Digex any time soon. It doesn't need a load of IR and comes supplied with an illuminator tailored to it. Using a high powered one it wasn't designed for then criticising it for whiting out is just stupid.
you can use most IR units on the Digex , I have the Wickedlight its pretty good the one that comes with the digex is only really good to 250yrds far less than sensor is capable of . Do not get me wrong I don't own a Digex but I have tested one and it works well with the Wickedlight
Digex is easy to set up, took 3 shots and IR supplied gives sufficient light for my 17hmr.
Pard008 although better for daytime use, doesn't match night use of digex but supplied IR is good for 100yd shooting.
Negative point of the 008 is the faff to get set up, this apparently can change though with different rifles.
Pay your money, take your choice and find what suits you best.
Would recommend that additional IR has power adjustment to avoid, reduce any white out that occurrs.
