Pulsar Thermal Spotter discovery

Sooo last night whilst driving the highways and byways I my friend was spotting out of the jeep window with his Pulsar Thermal Spotter and after a few near misses remembered the option of streaming live to an Iphone or Ipad which would help enormously to keep the jeep actually on the road. So this pm and drawing on my his comprehensive knowledge of all things IT he paired the Pulsar with an Ipad and it worked perfectly so next step is to find the best way of affixing it to the jeep dashboard just ahead of the steering wheel - simples. In doing all of this my friend was surprised to see that when the Pulsar was put on standby mode i.e. no screen picture, the Ipad was still receiving live streaming from the Pulsar! Does this mean that the standby function only shuts down the screen and not the thermal and if so - why?
My friend would love to know…….

Just shuts the screen down that’s why you may as well turn it off if it’s a new one with quick startup time so you save battery life.

Aye pretty much as I thought. That said the battery seems to live forever - never got below half charged even on long cold nights. A great bit of kit.

Standby is 'Display Off' in a Pulsar thermal. The wireless signal is still transmitting the image from the bolometer. Lots of fixing options for an iPad/tablet

I’ve done that the other night with my Talion , but I found that after startup is refreshing very often, sometimes just as I was pulling the trigger…

Much as I thought thank you. What is meant by “fixing options“ though and is it possible to fill the Ipad screen? Just curious.

What do you think to the talion Shootgun ?

Brilliant for the money and perfect for my needs.
I’m using it on the .22LR and is light and compact and I love the rail mount system, even though I had to chip in another 300 quid for a Innomount mount, but it does come with a picatinny one as well.

Just a thought, could you please let me know which highways and byways you will be on and which nights, just so I can stay in on those nights😂.Gang of us out one night in total darkness had the same sort of set up ,The driver was watching the screen heading for what he thought was the gateway to another field only for us to end up in a ditch with all four wheels off the ground .Turned out the spotter was looking everywhere except for the direction we were heading in.Took hours to get back out even snapped the winch cable.

Just another quick question - would it be ok for shooting rats at circa 15/25 metres or would it be too much ? That is would it not be able to focus ?
Have you any experience of that sort of thing ?

Thanks again

I'd suggest getting a low power red LED sealed unit for the front of the vehicle on a switch to drive around with minimal disturbance, i've used thermal also, but it's pretty pointless fixed in one position. Purchase a lightforce handle to fix a thermal too and fit it with a QD mount, remote operated options are not convenient, too slow and unprecise if using alongside an LRF or for tracking and pickup after a shot...just painful...

I’ve shot rabbits at this distance and haven’t had any focus problems
