What with the farce of the legal cover being removed, without notice, and just as bad, keeping members money for a service they didn’t get, and worse, not reducing the membership cost, even though BASC stated that removing the cover would save £2m/pa, or, make them an extra £2m/pa, at the cost of its members

And now, an underhanded way to make a list to sell, under the guise of another stupid “I’m in the club” card !

So, where is the value? Am I supposed to whip it out for my fellow stalkers to say I am in the club? Is there a club where only Level 2 can enter? What about now its made easier with one stalk, do us old lot get extra gold stars for doing three stalks?

Or you could just do as I did? Go online, do the online tests...one for shotguns, one for rifles, one for air weapons and download and print your pass certificate and....as GREENMIST and CJM1066 say make a "shooting CV" and put them in an A4 plastic pocket presentation folder along with the full size A4 copy of your insurance and save £15!

Would make more sense for “The Stalking Directory” to offer this service and with awards ( ) for meaningful contributions to the site, and deer welfare/management in general, as distinct from 14602 posts of questionable content!

, turning up to a farm with a small and difficult to read card is less likely to impress than an A4 display folder nicely organised with all licences, qualifications, insurance and risk assessments in an easy to read format.

Exactly this ^^^
Unless the farmer happens to be a member of BASC himself, and is therefore aware of this scheme, the little card will be pretty meaningless.
On the other hand, as @Greenmist so rightly points out, recognisable insurance documents, certificates of competence from known sources (such as Lantra), risk assessment, etc etc will carry more weight.

The BDS Advanced Stalker qualification, a five day residential course including census work and management targets, has long since ceased to be recognised, apart from by those of us who passed it. These quals will probably go the same way.

It's good to know that subscription money is being used to pay salaries to BASC employees, who dream up cool and interesting projects like this, which are so vital for the shooting community
It's a good job there's nothing more important out there, that needs resources, like an impending lead ban....

It you think it's a great idea, and not a compete waste of time and resources, get your money and details sent in, and you too can be in possession of a shooter ID card that no one recognises.

I have resisted bashing BASC for a while now, but they do come across as complete amateurs, even their recent stance on lead as published looks like a U turn or panic as the consequence of their voluntary transition comes home.

I'm the same as u, i wouldn't mind if Basc done things i disagreed with if they could justify it and go about it in a professional manner and achieved their aims, but they just seem to bumble along from 1 disaster to the next completely clueless that any disaster have even happened ( or deny they happened or/were a disaster at all).

Most of there new 'grand ' ideas feel like a bunch of folk with little knowledge how real normal shooting behave or think and just get creative/blootered in the pub writing ideas on the back of beer matts.
We've all had that 'brilliant idea' in the pub
But they don't even refine the ideas when there sober the next day either. Just like a bad joke

its actually very hard not to bash basc now as they keep shooting themselves in the foot, just so easy

And so infuriating when they could be doing so much good and all those years of membership, 150 bloody staff and that is the best they could come up with????
Tell u wot u may not like WJ but imagine the damage they would do to shooting with 150 staff, the 3 or 4 VOLANTEERS they have cripple us every new year/spring with GL challenges.
And just wait till next spring another challenge and basc will be on the back foot again ' oh we never seen that coming'
