Just working on this for a trip next month.
Hopefully one of us has previous experience.
“A certified copy of your passport and FAC is required “
🤔 certified by whom ? A solicitor, police or who ?
Any ideas ?

Notary public also the temporary export permit and your passport. Expect tp pay £100-£150

I assume you are using Air 2000 to get a pre approved permit?

Lot's of people I know don't do their own permit applications and use Henry at riflepermits.com, it costs a little money but compared to the cost of my trip, I'm happy to pay for this.

Another option often talked about is Africa Sky Guest House, if you need a night in Joberg, they will manage your rifle permit process.

I have a trip coming up in May for my son and I to do some Buffalo culling, had someone else do all my permits.

Good luck.

I had my FAC, Passport, export import form and SAPs form. PH sent me instructions on filling it out, don’t sign it until they ask you to in the office. Export import form was got from I think customs/border force and applied for well in advance, I can’t remember but the number and email have been put on here many times before.

Is there an export / import form at the UK end, I have travelled often from the UK and have never obtained any advance paperwork from UK customs / border patrol, I just show my FAC and log info with customs on the way out, maybe it’s because I’m going back and forth to the US and not to South Africa. My South Africa travel normally originates from the US.

I do remember that the airline and security prepare a declaration form for firearms that they are unloaded etc. at the point you are at the airport. What is the document you are obtaining in advance? I’m assuming you are just traveling on a short hunting trip and returning with your firearms to the UK?

Only required for SA

I just get either my accountant or solicitor to stamp the paperwork and write “I hereby certify that this is a true copy” sign and then date, technically neither are public notaries but they have been accepted each time.

I tried to find a notary public to do the business and failed miserably as they were too busy and didn’t want such a tiny job. In the end a mate who is a solicitor certified the copies and it all went through fine
