Best ‘driven’ sport there is.

I used to bid for days on Gamekeepers charity raffles & had some brilliant experiences. Sadly few places have the numbers now, although it is still possible.

Might be asking for a little too much here.
This sort of opportunity is long gone I'm sorry to say. Any numbers of rabbit are at a seriously limited amount across the UK.
There are a few pockets here and there, but most rabbit men understand this, and accordingly over the last 10 yrs have hung up there boots.
They sit around year after year, thinking back to the days of old, getting grumpier by the lack of coney on the ground.
There dogs get too old to run, never to be replaced, there line of working ferrets starting to see there lives through in a cage, never to be bred again.
Finally it sinks in, they will never see the rabbit numbers in there lifetimes that there fathers and grandfathers saw, whilst not touching a single whisker.

That for me is where I'm at with the ferreting. Its getting tougher every season..to be honest it's almost a chore now☹

I also fly a Harris Hawk, so use ferrets with the hawk, last 2 years has been very poor on rabbit numbers, don’t think I bolted a rabbit last season with a ferret. Will not be replacing them when theses go.

There are still pockets of quite serious numbers but most are now used for dog training esp by spaniel trainers.

When u hear them speak some of the locations are kept top seceret wouldnae surprise me if some trainers actually blindfold folk when they take them on their rabbit ground.

Quite often still a lot around the moorland fringes esp grousey areas, but i've long thought that predation is a big problem for rabbits when there battling to recover after a disease outbreak.
It just keeps there number low
