Just been reading that vehicle excise license rated going uuupp in April.
Think it said any car that emits more than 87/km will have their rate doubled.
Cars that currently pay zero tax will pay a tenner.

I wonder if any members on SD who voted Labour now think they made a mistake?
Ken.
Ps. These rises supposed to get us to go electric.
So, punish the ICE users instead of giving incentives to change over.

As usual with tax, it's a pig's breakfast of needless complexity. I think these changes apply to new cars only and that your existing car'd tax will increase by some amount similar to inflation.
I am not that confident that my comment may be relied on.

The UK got what it voted for I still keep getting told this ref the Brexit vote even though I don't care anymore. So it seems to me that the Labour voters got what they wanted.
The EU by the way is in no better state.

Just had a mini EV recovered ! Ten days old and received a urgent recall 😂

DO NOT drive a critical part of the battery is not up to spec ( first batch of mini EV’s are made in china) possible risk of combustion if driven on even parked up 🤔 you could not make it up !
Even the recovery company said they would park it 100m away from any other vehicles or buildings

All who voted labor made a grave mistake, same with all who voted brexit.

Now where’s that song You ain’t seen nothing yet boom boom ohhh baby you ain’t seen nothing yet, 🤣🤣🤣

tighten your belts and buckle up it’s only just started

indeed, water bills up, council tax up, general taxation up, car tax up, firearms licenses up, cartridges up.

if they lower my tax code anymore it will be negative.

That’s correct, it will initially only apply to vehicles first registered this April, but come 2029 it will apply to all vehicles.
Unfortunately for me I chose last June to buy my first DCPU through my Ltd company as I travel long distances for work. So not only will first year VED double to over £5k but BIK tax is going to skyrocket to £4400 pa.
Someone now considering buying a new one this April will enjoy first year tax of nearly £10k.
Come 2029 , to avoid the BIK tax I shall sell it back to myself for as cheaply as I can justify, but will then become personally responsible for insurance and servicing etc.

Either way, not only will this be my first pickup, it will unfortunately also be my last.

Anyone that voted for these clowns needs to be publicly outed as retarded and banished from society like they did with lepers.

We are literally getting bent over in every avenue as a business owner been nailed with increased costs, personally getting reamed and god forbid the economic mess we are leaving our kids/younger generation.

People wonder why trumps of this world get elected.

Starvation might work, it does in India. No work = no eat.
There is nothing about India we should possibly want to emulate. Starvation might work, but nobody needs to go that far. The problem is that the size of the state is grossly bloated and the government is pretty much only funding itself from a small section of society. If this is the size of state and public services that we insist on having, 80+% of people don't pay enough tax. 9 million people are not working because they are not required to pay tax for idling. You need to have a system where everybody has to pay a basic amount of tax each - something like £10,000 each - regardless of their circumstances, which goes towards part of the cost of public services and welfare. So-called "progressive" tax policies have ruined the economy.

Public spending is around £30,000 per worker in the UK, given that the average worker doesn't produce much more value than that, the economy is broken. Either you must radically decimate public spending, or you must have people working much harder and/or with much greater productivity. Or preferably, both. Pretending that importing people of even lower productivity isn't going to make it far worse is complete madness - but it is still an article of faith for nearly all involved in policy.

It is deranged that in this country politicians and officials have been acutely aware of the lack of productivity for over 15 years, and you can get grants for completely unproductive virtue-signalling, but that there is very little adult education and up-skilling, and worst of all that education and training are taxed - i.e. disincentivised.

I don't mind paying £10 I have had 7 years free, however it's illogical for a 2 litre 190 bhp diesel volvo, the only reason I have not changed it is its really good on fuel 50 odd round town and well over 60 on good run. It obviously must produce nitrogen dioxide, but it's co2 is less than a hybrid petrol Fiat 500.

Punishing the ICE users increases government revenue, giving incentives to change over costs the Government - which do you think they are going to choose?

Cheers

Well, they do prefer EVs because that allows for both the maximum damage to the UK and the maximum to red China. What could be better for any lefty than damaging a Western democracy in favour of an aggressive, communist dictatorship?
