I was really disappointed especially as the range finder was about £600 new but turns out a few other people have had the same treatment for the other top makes who are renowned for customer service and free fixes and services, just not if it relates to electrical components. Which is a shame as it's the obvious thing that's going to fail. That is crazy I’m very disappointed to hear that from Zeiss! I thought they were supposed to be one of the best companies out there. Maybe there products still are but sounds like poor service for the price you pay!
Key question, what’s the budget, if large Swarovski EL RangesWhat range finders would people recommend?

Quite sensitive to moisture though - at least the one I’ve used.No need to spend big on a rangefinder for basic use, they all do similar jobs. Hawke Endurance is bang on
About as good a recommendation as you will getI use, and like, a Vortex. I started with a Hawke and it did all I wanted it to do ... right up to the night I left it behind on the ledge inside a pallet hide we'd put in on one of our shooting farms. The sheep then knocked it off and it was nowhere to be seen despite some serious searching.
I bought the Vortex and enjoyed the extra range it offered for about 4 months. Then I found the Hawke ! It was absolutely full of water ! I took the battery out and stuck it in the window of my workshop in the full sun for a month or so, shaking water out of it occasionally until it seemed fully dried out. A new battery fitted, it worked perfectlyand is now on 'long loan' to my shooting buddy and continues to give good service.
I have some of the newest Hawke scopes (Frontiers, FFP Sidewinder etc) and they are excellent at their price point with a great lifetime warranty backed up by outstanding UK customer service, but I went Vortex for the rangefinder as they guarantee the electronics against failure. I recently bought a Leica scope on here from McLeod's and it is outstanding value for money compared to some lovely Swaro & Zeiss scopes I've used at twice the price. I was SO close to getting the Leica Geovids with the RF (and a divorce if she checked the credit card balance) after I bought the scope, but the short warranty on the electronics puts me off. Vortex have nailed the RF market for me with that warranty.got a hawk 700 range finder ,small one button press .cant fault it ,but if i was to buy another probably would go vortex just for the vip warranty alone
I tried out some of the vortex rf bins and they were brilliant.
